If Miami was a top 15 team and had been kicking the crap out of some teams, then yes I would look at the Peach Bowl a little differently, but lets face it the U has been getting thrashed by everyone lately.
I cant see how you call Alabama a strong team, as other than Florida they collasped at the end of 2005. The Arizona St. game should never have gotten to a point where we needed a street ball play at the end. Miles is either afraid to make a change because he feels that if he does and proves wrong he cant take the heat, or if MF or RP proves successful, people will say he waited too long.
I think JR will go Pro after this season. But I hope he learns to look off receivers once he gets to the next level. I like JR, but from an offensive perspective, I like a mobile QB. That is what is good for the collegiate level. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
XKP, You're inconsistent like JR dude. You ask how I would consider Bama a good team? Let's see, they were undefeated with two games to go when they played us and #3 in the nation. They were good. Luckily for us, they had lost their top offensive star by the time we played them in Prothro. Still, it took us an OT effort to beat them. They lost to Auburn as well in a pretty good game who was also ranked highly. Then they won the Cotton Bowl as well finishing with 10 wins and a high ranking. Don't forget how bad they beat Florida either, you know, that team we squeaked by... And you listed Tennessee as one of the top SEC teams that JR lost to. That is fine because they were ranked when we played them. But the wheels fell off for them and they sucked and had a losing season as well. By the way, Bama still beat them without Prothro. It actually supports your ideas about JR even more, but you got your facts mixed up. Also, there are those who don't want to give Flynn much credit for his one start. That's just BS. He did more than manage that game. He wasn't the MVP for nothing. He had good stats, threw two TDs & no INTS. and ran for a bunch of yards. And don't compare Miami now to Miami last year. That's just stupid. That's like comparing the 2003 LSU team with the one from the 2004 season - NO COMPARISON. Miami lost some good players and they lost their best player in Hester on offense and special teams. They were in the top 10 when we played them. Don't forget, when the game was tied early, Flynn threw a 50-yard bomb to Buster Davis for a TD. And we all know, Buster rarely gets a TD for some reason. So it's possible the pass really opened up the run in that one. It's not like his bomb came after we we're running all over them. All the good health and time off in the world doesn't equate to that kind of beating. It does make you wonder. That's the most lopsided bowl victory in LSU history and the worst in Miami history. You have to give the guy credit. There were times earlier in the season when we had our guys healthy (Addai) and we couldn't sniff 25 points much less 40+. And don't say Miami wasn't excited to be there because we had just been in Atlanta for the SECCG and got stomped. I certainly wasn't pumped about my team going to the Peach and I'm sure our guys weren't either. But I did like matching up with Miami. Either way, you have to be fair. We scored on eight straight possesions. I don't even know if we've done that against the sad teams we've played.
Jimbo showed great confidence in a QB who could throw the ball 100 yards. Thats why he opened him up with 4 of 21 passes over 10 yards. Guess he is saving the other 90 for Fresno St. Maybe he did not want to show too much at Florida.
