Yes, my 11 year old nephew called me last night from New Iberia, I didnt know who the hell it it was. He was calling to give me his new cellphone number. I was like wtf. First thing I asked him was about his grades, but he goes to catholic private school, im sure his parents aint paying for him to flunk out.
All of that was true. Funny, but true. Every spring, my 8th grade honors students read Fahrenheit 451. For those unfamiliar with it, Ray Bradbury wrote the novel in the mid 1950's. There is a reference somewhere in the middle of the book that doesn't name the year, but we know it's during this decade. In the novel, books have become obsolete, and in fact, are burned by fireman (that's their only job because houses have become fireproof.) All history has been rewritten, and people sit in their "tv parlors" with tv's the size of the entire room. They feel a real connection to the people on tv and interact more with the programs than the other people in their homes. People also run around with "ear buds" in their ears that play music for them 24/7, hence they don't speak to each other on the streets, etc. There are other examples, but Bradbury had lots of foresight into what was to come.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say yes.. and now I'll go back and check out the link... lol ** EDIT: Yep.. spoiled.
damn CHS preppies NISH fo' life Da'Berry represent. sorry, couldn't help myself. you with me rubi? EDIT: yes my generation is spoiled rotten. I am sometimes horrified by the crappy attitude and disrespect for superiors and elders i see from people my age. And it all comes down to lazy parenting. I'm thankful everyday that my folks had the good sense to make me work for an allowance as soon as i could push the lawnmower and beat the sh!t outta me if i gave somebody lip.
