how do you think being behind the big east is a joke??? uconn, west virginia, syracuse, georgetown, pitt, louisville (down a lil right now but final four last year and hell, you know petino will have them back) and rutgers who is REALLY tough at home... (just beat number 25 louisville)

compare that to tennessee (still too unproven to be considered real) LSU (young and has a tendancy to meltdown) and florida.. lost two in a row... with a bunch of pretenders after that...

the big east is maybe better than the acc this year?

The whole league is young...We'll be back in a couple years. Lots of teams playing true freshmen. I guess you could say that's "down", but we (the SEC) have big time potential for the future.

you realize that you listed less than half the big east teams? you could arguably add vandy, uk, bama and ark-especially if you include louisville and rutgers for big east. 9 of 16 are top 60 rpi for big east. 7 of 12 for sec. that higher % for sec.

It's clear to me that all of college basketball is down with players leaving early for the NBA in recent years. The traditional powers are no longer head and shoulders above everyone else. Duke don't have the same talent and depth they once had ... they have one great player and one great coach. UNC is playing all freshmen after winning it all last year.

The SEC was hit really hard last year with players going pro. There are some very good young talent in the league, but it is very young. Florida is a bit overrated b/c they haven't played anyone ... their SOS is 132. Kentucky is down by their standards, but they have won 4 in a row ... don't count them out just yet.

According to the RPI, the Big 10 is the best right now followed by the Big East, ACC, SEC and Big 12.

I think the NCAA tourney will be wide open with no clear cut favorite...

its just as likely that the powers arent as dominating because of the change in the # of scholarships allowed a few years ago. kids that would be on the bench at a major program for a couple of years are now starting at midmajors. great for college bball

the top four conferences all look the same.

if you go by average rpi SEC is #3, but the top four are within ten rpi.

I had to just laugh about the SEC being down this year.
    Let's see,
Maybe because I never go to any of the other conference boards
    around the country.
Are any other conferences ever down also or is it always the SEC?

I just remember seeing this kind of stuff year after year
