Nikki Caldwell from UCLA, is the new LSU head coach. I think its a great hire, she turned around UCLA quickly and is a great recruiter. Please give your thoughts about the new hire.

As long as Van "Smoke Laval" Chancellor is gone, I'm fine.

I'm pretty impressed with the hire. I do think this will be a resume padder for her but at least she'll be here for several years until the alma mater comes calling.

She has to prove that she can recruit in the SEC to follow Summitt. No better place than LSU for that.

It's up to us to 'convert' her so that when Tennessee comes callin' she'll still want to stay at LSU, like with Coach Miles & Michigan. LSU is a big school with a large talent pool and used to be up there with Tennessee, so it's not like it would be a big step up for her to leave but we'll see how she does first.

She sort of reminds me of Pokie.

    great hire!

on all accounts, a great hire. Former SEC player, so she knows the SEC. Played with and coached under greats. Proven in a good league. So, great job by Alleva to convince NC to leave a great basketball school to come to LSU.

the only questions are whether LSU (and their fans) will actually make her feel welcome and support her and whether she can recruit. She seemed to pick it up at UCLA quickly.

Alleva, as a "basketball guy", may know what he's doing after all? Of course, going to the Pac10 well twice now. The only big difference is NC's pretty deep SEC ties.

She can probably recruit better here than on Cali...less competition for local talent.
