this Biden border deal has very little to do with the border, its a political move to try to shift blame to Republicans who are definitely gonna kill this idiotic bill. there is no bill needed! just enforce border laws as they already exist and have forever! enforce the border!
They want to say that it’s going to be a Republican issue during the election, but them bringing it up after some 12 million+ illegals since Biden took office wasn’t an issue at all? This is the democrats talking point for the election. They will dismiss the illegals that entered on the asylum abuse, then say “we tried to fix it but the republicans are bad”, and then never accept the responsibility that they could’ve enforced what was already on the books.
exactly and the bill is mostly a Ukraine funding bill not a border bill anyways. the border parts are just a small addendum to a massive Ukraine and Israel war machine bill

If "enforcing what was already on the books" is a solution for immigration then why did JAMES LANKFORD, one of the most extreme rightwingers in the Senate, write this bill? Why have MULTIPLE republican senators expressed the need for this bill? If "enforcing what was already on the books" is a solution for immigration then why did illegal immigration continue under donald trump at unacceptable levels, by republicans' own admission? And most telling of all: If "enforcing what was already on the books" is a solution for immigration then why has the union of border patrol agents, who endorsed donald trump in two previous elections, expressed the need to pass it? Biden has enforced EVERYTHING under immigration law except trump's executive orders that inflicted monstrous treatment of people trying to cross, just seeking a better life.... like trump separating children from their parents, expressing the desire to shoot them in the legs, electrify the fences, and submerge razor wire to slice them up. OF COURSE removing those tortures will embolden more people to cross, but that doesn't speak to the existing need for more agents, more money for enforcement, swifter court resolutions, stricter asylum rules, and better tracking technology which this bill would address. Damn straight Democrats will use this as a talking point. Every time some republican candidate spews "immigration immigration immigration" the Democrats will respond with "we tried to pass YOUR OWN BILL which would have been the strongest ever but you voted against it." Why won't you ADMIT that this bill was full steam ahead until donald trump declared that republicans shouldn't give Biden a policy success? I know why you won't, YOU know why you won't. Because your allegiance is to trump and not to this country.
