..........slow day. My brother just returned a tape I haven't seen in 5 years! It reads, date: 10-11-97 LSU vs Florida @ B.R. on the label. I think I'll watch it and see how it turns out.
.... I wont forget that date. It was a great game. Also after a night of working at The Lady of The Lake I got home and found a moving van backed up to the house. Wife took damn near every thing. That was the morning of the game. I had great seats that season. They were on the 10 about half way up on the east side. Had to give up the tickets during the divorce. I went and bought set of golf clubs and l am living happy ever after.
I STILL cary the stub from that game in my wallet...... it was one of the most intense experiences of my life. A friend had an old friend who was in town staying with him that night...... after the victory they got seperated and my pal ended up going out for a bit and eventually went home. A few hours later his buddy showed up(hammered) and rang his doorbell to get in. My buddy opens the door and without turning on the lights outside. The out of towner comes in the house and starts unloading handfulls of turf from the field shoved into every pocket in his pants, shirt, and jacket onto my friends coffee table and crowing like it was a bag full of gold bars....... :geaux:
Same here... I have the grass in all different colors... I have the ticket stub.. I have the gameday program... I have the "Sports Illustrated" mag with Kevin Faulk on the cover with "See you later gators..." and I have the original "Advocate" newspaper from the day after. It is a mini-museum ... and I cherish it everyday. Thanks for bringing back the memories....
I remember I got hurt that night I was jumping the fence and landed wrong -- busted up the knee real good. Yet, I was still able to make it to the field and pretty much forgot about it. Next morning though -- nice swollen knee.
I forgot how great that game really was to watch. There were a bunch of big plays. Big kick returns, hits, int's, catches, runs. Everything was there. On big plays the view of the game was obscured by fans almost completely blotting out the screen. The camera was shaking violently. Man that was good stuff. I wish Auburn would be unbeaten going into Baton Rouge this year. That will be one hell of a game day atmosphere. I think it has a chance to live up to the '97 florida game.
OK here's my memory of that game. We were on an annual hunting/camping trip (2nd weekend in October for last 20 plus years). We had a satellite dish hooked up to a tree and were watching the game on ESPN. After several adult beverages, I was in need of relief. I went behind a tree (hey, we're in the woods) and was doing my thing when LSU ran an interception all the way for a TD. In my excitement I ran towards the TV with both hands in the air. My cousin looked at me, and knowing my Dad's "well endowed" reputation, said: "You must be adopted".
