i prefer one serious ass-whipping once a year if you're not gonna go undefeated.

a big serving of humility can go a long way with the right mindset and players.

thats what UF did by being humiliated as a 3 td favorite so it weighs the same as our loss.

they manned up, punched us in the mouth and moved on.

Now its a test of our own character in how we respond.

if we lose to an inferior gamecock team which is gaining momentum, then there's need for concern and its likely we lose a couple more after that.

this is the real test. responding to adversity.

    UF responded like champions.

are we man enough to step up to the challenge and do the same? we will see.

I look at it like this. When good teams lose, it's rarely 3 or more TDs. In the '06 FU game. We KNEW we were better than them, but we just couldn't put it together enough to win. We KNEW if we faced them again in ATL, we would probably win.

The game this year showed they were clearly better than us and if we both make it to ATL again, I want us to win, but I don't have the same confidence about that game as I did then.

All losses hurt and I agree that losing a close game probably hurts worse. But good teams don't get blown out.

when we won the NC in '03 we didnt score an offensive touchdown in our own stadium against UF. it was a punt return by skylar. we were out of that game mentally from the beginning; no motivation whatsoever.

when you see the countless posts of people saying if players arent ready to play every game then they shouldnt be out there. thats not reality people.

teams will be more motivated and ready to play depending on the circumstances of the previous and following weeks.

LSU was clearly not ready to play and once they were jumped on, played scared. UF had us on our heels just like everytime we played there in the spurrier era.

however, we cut the lead to 6 as terrible and scared as we played the entire first half and could have made a game of it. But the defense never corrected themselves whether it was scheme, execution or both.

When we drove down to start the 2nd half and punched it in, I felt we could win as did the UF fans. It didnt happen.

Tebow responded with his own drive and answered. Thats what heisman winners do.

they were better than us in all facets but that doesnt mean Lafell didnt own Haden the entire game. If we have a rematch I can see an entire different scenario.

We MIGHT not give up so many huge plays which would allow us to:

Punch UF back in the mouth.

    Establish the run.

    Hit Lafell in open space

    be more aggressive on defense

I can see a much different outcome once this team matures in key areas; namely qb and defensive backs.

I totally agree. We are a strong team with weaknesses, many related to inexperience. Most of the breaks went Florida's way and Florida played like champions. We were taken out of our game, but that doesn't mean we can't play with Florida. We just didn't Saturday.

I'm looking forward to the S Carolina game.

The thing that perplexes me the most is how in the world LSU showed up after two weeks of preparation and looked so out of sync.

Statistically, a bye week gives a team a pretty decent chance for success in the SEC.

Or how about the 2 last second losses to Arkansas and Iowa.
It seems like there was one more with Saban's defense.
I don't think I will ever forget those losses for several reasons.
    1) Last second losses for one
    2) Arkansas played in the SEC championship game and got killed by Georgia.
    3) Iowa, bowl game, Nick's last game.
    4) Karma after the blue grass miracle!

I don't like losing either in case some didn't know but hey its only 1 loss.
It's a rebuilding year and some act as if the world of LSU football is coming to an end!:)

Any loss hurts, but as mentioned. LSU isnt accustomed to losing often. When they do its usually close. Our fan base is amongst the most passionate so things at times will seen as too high or too low. Going in I felt LSU would lose. I knew Florida was better than they had been playing. I also knew the trash talk would have them fired up. Plus the Swamp is righ there with Tiger Stadium as probably the two toughest environments. Despite all that what concerns me is how LSU lost. The lack of fire in the OL and DL was disheartening. Seeing how they were manhandled by avg lines. Sure they played their best in part because of the trash talk but still their intensity wasnt met.

Also the lack of adjustments throughout the game is a thing of concern. I also havent seen LSU look that flat on D in many years. The tackling and angles were the worse in quite a while.

Its far from the end of the world. All the complaints considered, LSU was still in the game for a while. This is still a damn good team. We just need a leader to step up and demand accountability.

I tend to agree with Tirk here. A good ass whoopin every once in a while will give you a dose of humble pie. But "damn" to lose this way has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Can't seem to get rid of it no matter how many beers I drink..."chit"...BTW, I'm still wearin my LSU cap around over here, and surprisingly, no ones said a word..."hmmmm", you'd figure they'd be braggin and all...but "Nada"..very, very strange.
