And, he has to recruit against Texas, TAMU, Texas Tech, OU, Nebraska, Colorado, K-State, TCU, Houston, Arkansas, LSU, etc, etc, etc. Not an easy task with limited facilities, a boring town, and a bush league stadium. Miles is a good choice. Trust Skip.
Agreed. But go to www.okstate.com and check out the next level. Phase I is done, Phase II is started. Our stadium will be SWEET when it's done in 2 years.
recruits texas Yea now he gets to recruit in his own borders where a vast majority of the talent already has ties to the school. If he can get them to stillwater, he should be able to keep them (La kids) at home.
I know this. And, congrats on finally stepping it up. I'd like to see y'all finally start slowing OU down. But, my point is important for all LSU fans. Miles had none of these benefits AND is the main reason why these projects are happening.
bottom line is that we won't know if its a good hire for several years. if lsu does well next year it may just be with NS talent (archer scenario). if we do bad, its growing pains. we just have to wait and see.
This year Miles revamped his offense after losing two potential starting quarterbacks -- one to professional baseball, the other to injury. Oklahoma State went from a prolific passing attack to a run-first operation and still managed to win seven games and go to the Alamo.
Dude, take some pride in Ok State. One of the greatest players of all time, Barry Sanders won a Heisman in Stillwater, and he'll most likely never spend time in prison. You're in a bcs conference. Don't feel like you have to rationalize Miles leaving. Heck, it'd be more natural to be a little ticked off at the guy. A few years ago, FSU, VA Tech, and Miami were considered backwaters. Back in the early 80s and late 70s there was talk about Miami dropping football. Oh didn't some guy named Henry Iba coach hoops at Okie State? Don't take a back seat to anyone.
I know, what the hell are we going to do? 2-3 win seasons sure to come now...our players really suck... :dis: :dis: :dis:
