Fresno State, ULL, LA Tech, or any other underdog good for a scrimmage game and willing to travel and get their butts kicked in our house is a GREAT IDEA. A Horrible idea is a game and game series with any underdog, ESPECIALLY TU. No AD in his right mind would agree to play TU in a home and away series. It is extremely idiotic, loses money for this University and offers LSU NOTHING in return. Maximize your home games to seven or even eight each year if you can. Stupid, stupid people should never be allowed to schedule games. LSU suffered for years from poor scheduling, and it seems to be a bad habit returning. TU is a diseased "crack ho"! LSU, JUST SAY NO TO TU! WE DON'T WANT TO GET ANY OF IT ON US!
"The agreement calls for LSU to retain and sell an allotment of tickets for those games that are played in the Louisiana Superdome, giving LSU revenue that substantially offsets the loss of a home playing date in the years the Tigers visit Tulane." http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=168&p=2&c=380275
Yeah, I agree. I'd much rather see us schedule teams from Texas, Miss, and 'Bama (Houston, Rice, TCU, SMU, Southern Miss, Troy State) as the majority of our out-of-state recruits are from those states/areas.
I KNOW ALL ABOUT THIS!!! The offset is not substantial ENUF. LSU is still chucking away about 3-4 million over 5 games scheduled. BAD MOVE no matter how you slice it. Screw the Alums who were screaming at Bertman to play TU. They need to open their wallets and finance this debacle. I'm with the alums who opposed this nonsense and always will be. AS AN LSU ALUM WHO IS NOT ALONE, I REFUSE TO SUPPORT TU FB IN ANY MANNER WHATSOEVER AND LIVE FOR THE DAY WHEN THEY ANNOUNCE THE DROPPING OF FB AS A SPORT. I HATE TULANE. Let them crawl to us and beg for a merciless beating and crumbs from our table, the paltry 500K standard "rent-a-win" gate receipt share in Tiger Stadium forever more, I say.
You DO get bonus points for beating a tough OOC team, the higher the risk the higher the award. Not to mention the respect you get for MANNING up, and a good game always benefits us fans. Like a poster said earlier tell that to an undefeated Auburn, who got shafted in '04 due to weak OOC opponents. (Some SEC teams didn't help their cause either)
