And herein lies the problem with this whole thing. If this was indeed nothing but a medical issue that decision should have been made before J-Rock had his bags packed ready for the airport. The spin out of the coaching staff will be the decision was made by the LSU medical staff.

I have no agenda against Miles but based on my source (Williamson Grad) JR is not happy. I also called him back about the depression issue and he was told that is BS also. I have no idea why someone on the radio would be trashing a kid over mental problems like that. Its classless to do so when there has been no public statements regarding a depression problem.

I think Miles and Co layed a big turd on this one. It should never have come down to a last minute decision that was a shock to the player. Jimbo's comments are nothing but pitiful spin and this depression thing shouldnt be discussed. :dis:

Russell is rehabilitating his separated left, non-throwing shoulder that he injured on a sack in the loss to Georgia in the Dec. 3 Southeastern Conference Championship Game. Both players will miss the Peach Bowl against Miami at 6:30 p.m. Friday (ESPN) in the Georgia Dome. Both players were not on the team plane that left Baton Rouge on Sunday afternoon for Atlanta. The fact that Russell was not on it, however, unleashed a string of rumors that lit up Baton Rouge radio on Tuesday.

"Everybody says it's his non-throwing shoulder, but when you're throwing the football, your whole body has to be in one fluid motion," said Fisher, a former quarterback at Samford and Salem College. "And the first seven-to-10 days of your rehab are so crucial. If you don't do it right in these first few days, it can really set you back."

Fisher, who was the quarterback coach at Auburn from 1993 through 1998, said former Auburn quarterback Dameyune Craig did not properly rehab an injured, non-throwing shoulder during the summer of 1995 after Craig had all but won the starting job during spring practice.

"In August, he couldn't raise his arm," Fisher said. "It was his non-throwing arm, but it really hurt how he threw the ball. He had a shot at being the starter, but that injury cost him. He ended up playing, but it cost him the starting job."

You don't wait until the day the team leaves to inform JR. Even if he needs to stay back for a couple days to rehab, you still let him come up and join his teammates for the game. You want your starting qb on the sidelines for the bowl game, imo.

Whoa, that early huh? Lessee. I get off work at 11:30PM, drive an hour home. My wife leaves for work at 3:30am so I'd have to find a baby sitter for 4AM. Nope...don't think it will work. Pick me up at the Atlanta Airport. :grin:
