I am sincerely grateful that there is a hard expiration date on this argument. 13-0, National Championship Game ahead and we STILL have doubters. Good grief!
I talked about Flynn and his INTs, comp %, etc...IN DEFENSE OF LEE...a couple of times this season and previous. I also talked about it in defense of JJ a couple years ago. You're right, and I never argued that. Except SOME...(I didn't say you...) DID trash Miles without even considering there IS a reason. This is incorrect. Stats actually show the offense is the same with either. Look it up. Quit taking ONLY the UGA game into account. Look at the other games he's started since Bama. Hell, split the Bama game in half...give the first half to Lee, and the second to Bama. Then let's compare notes. How many 500 yd of offense games have we had this season? 2. JJ started both and (to the dismay of some for some reason) took most of the snaps in both. And it's not like they were long ago. They were the two games prior to the UGA game! So now I'll hear how it wasn't against strong defenses. And I'll say Lee didn't face but one strong defense all year. In that game, he threw two INTs in two passes after getting (late) hit by Hightower. But even when Lee was putting up great numbers (almost identical to JJ's by the way), he wasn't facing ANY pressure. Look at Lee's numbers against KY. A VERY weak defense, yet he had a bad game. He didn't have any better numbers than JJ did. JJs yds are about half of Lee's. Lee's games are about twice JJ's. It's really simple math. But people see what they wanna see.
He didn't. He's been concentrating on something else. And considering the opponent, he probably won't get much of a chance in the next game, assuming he did enough concentrating on something else to have the chance. There's one QB on the team that can...and has...beaten Bama. It ain't him. And yes, he's had his chances. He just doesn't do well against teams that knock the chit outta QBs. Shirley a man of your impressive intellect can see this.
So what happens if JJ gets hurt in the rematch or plays like he did in the Ga game in the rematch? Lee isn't available to play (still not sure if this is the case) or still throws interceptions then we just throw Mett in????? That is why when JJ couldn't do it, in the Ga game, Miles should have let Lee get a few throws in there, imo. If the grades thing is true then Mett should have gotten a few throws. You don't know, no one knows, if JJ might get hurt (God forbid) in the rematch.
I would agree. But I just have one comment to make with Miles' handling of Lee lately: He's risking putting himself in bad light. Not because he's playing JJ the entire time, but because in every game where the offense has struggled or JJ has had trouble with his passing, the FIRST thing the commentators say is questioning if/when we'll see Lee followed by a brief run-down of his season--specifically his success and then a camera zooms in on him. Now, why even put him in to simply take a knee? If there's something going on that the rest of us aren't priviledged to know, fine....just don't play him at all. Don't put him in just to take a knee. It makes him look bad and more embarrassing to Lee than simply not playing at all. Don't risk a QB recruit sitting at home, potentially being recruiting by LSU only to see Miles put in the backup for 1 play...to take a knee....and in another game, take 4-straight knees from the 1 yardline with 4 min left. I would be concerned and wanna know what's the deal with those situations. So, in short, putting in a backup for the sole purpose of taking a knee in his only play of the game is an unnec. risk for criticism.
Jarrett Lee started 9 games. 69.2% of the games played Jordan Jefferson started 4. 30.8 % of the games played Lee-------14 TDs 70% of the passing TDs thrown Jefferson-6 TDs 30 % of the passing TDs thrown Lee-------1,306 yds 65% of the passing yds gained JJ---------684 yds 35% of the passing yds gained Lee Comp %-62.3 JJ Comp %--60.2 Lee INTs-----3 JJ INTs-------1 As you can see by the %s, Lee and JJ were pretty much equally productive in yds, TDs, and completion % compared to the number of games each started. It is what it is. I suppose the running game was better with Lee at the helm? Um, no. Not.Even.Close. And if you took out Lee's KY #s and JJs UGA #s, it would be even more telling. BUT, we won't do that. Everyone's entitled a bad game, right? Right??
First off, grades come out in a few days. That'll leave a MONTH for Lee to prepare if he's OK academically, or a month for Mett to prepare if he's not. Secondly, Lee is a 5th year senior on this team that started 70% of the games this season. I seriously doubt he's forgotten how to throw a football or call the plays. Our offense is comprised of what seems like 5 or 6 plays anyway. Lee had about a week to prepare for Oregon.
Where in my post did I say he forgot how to throw a football or he forgot anything. Don't twist my words.
