Jeff Capel is an intriguing possibility... I attended VCU as an undergrad, then LSU for my Master's. Capel has injected a lot of excitement into VCU basketball, probably more in the past two years than in the 15-plus years since the J.D. Barnett era, when they had some good teams in the '80's. VCU's performance yesterday vs. Wake Forest can only imrove Capel's stock. VCU as a mid-major (although it's debatable whether their conference, the CAA, is of mid-major caliber overall) is a great stepping stone for a young coach.
