Powe is a very, very solid player and has some of the best footwork you will see - very fundamentally sound and plays the game like someone 2 years his senior. Auburn has recruited several players out of Wayne County and they consider it to be fertile recruiting ground.

Auburn recruited Powe very hard - a real full court press - until a shoving incident between Powe and his HS coach late in the season. Powe was suspended, and then reinstated , I think...not to0 sure about the details. But anyway, the Auburn coaches went "radio silent" following the incident.

I'm only speculating, but Powe has alot of "re-prioritization" work to do before he'll see playing time at the D-1 level. Anyway, Powe is definitely a non-qualifier and will go the Juco route. He's a helluva a football player though.....

    Wayne County War Eagles
    2002 5A State Champions 14-1
    2003 4A State Champions 14-1(Back2Back)
2004 12-1 (1 loss was in 3rd round of playoffs to State Champion Brookhaven in overtime)

We have a nice tradition in football down here next to the Alabama line. We don't lose very often. Go War Eagles.
