the Louisville opening would be a perfect fit for either Fisher or Borges, IMO Bama hiring Fisher would've triggered some serious sniffing-around over the BoT's decision on the UAB hiring ...... Bama couldn't afford the risk of hiring Fisher. the whole CJF rumors are a smokescreen, just like the Spurrier rumors were intended to be. Following the blueprint ......
This is the reason that I'm surprised that anyone is trying to get Jimbo as an OC. Jimbo wants to be a head coach and is ready. If he doesn't land one this year, he'll land one next year. Anywhere he goes is only going to be for one year. Sure, both FSU and Bama wanted buyouts to keep him there for 3 or 4 years. It just ain't in Jimbo's interest to get leashed to a buyout. The only reason to leave LSU with a potential champioinship year coming up in order to take a rebuilding job somewhere is a big salary boost. Apparently the ton-o-cash is going to come with a major buyout, unfortunately for Jimbo. Jimbo is not likely a fan of the Alabama Board of Trustees either, since they already cost him a 600,000 job at UAB. Between the perfidy of the BOT and the slick of Nick, The U of A may seem a little slimy to Jimbo.
word on Warchant is that FSU will name Jimbo Fisher as it's OC later today. The combination of Fisher and trickett will be a pair to be reckoned with, IMHO.
Jimbo situation First off, I dont want to stir up a hornets nest here. With the apparent rift in play calling philosophy between Miles and Fisher, this topic would seem very debatable. My question is what is in the best interest for the LSU program here? Is it to keep Fisher here as long possible, until he gets a HC job? Which should happen in the next two seasons Id imagine. Or would it be better if Miles was to fire Jimbo? I know that would be a 'dirty' thing to do in many ways. Considering the success LSU has had recently. It would look like Miles or LSU has no class. The truth of the matter is though, if there is a real rift and it continues to grow could be an undermining sidetrack to the program. I dont see either letting it get to that, but you never know. If there is a public rift or disagreements in front the team on play calling the team may eventually have to take sides. So I was wondering what everyone here feels is the best scenario for the LSU football team. Im not a Fisher fan, but I find it difficult to fire him. However, if there is a real rift between the two, it could be detrimental in time. I know if I were a OC, I wouldnt want the HC constantly over ruling me. On the other hand if I were a HC, I would want a OC that I could trust, that has my philosophy. So I wouldnt have to keep an eye on whats being called.
Re: Jimbo situation I wouldnt fire him. I to would not be terribly upset when/if Jimbo leaves BUT he has been a great Tiger for many years and has built some amazing talents at LSU. So keep him as long as we can. I know we are all on this big Miles love fest but lets not underestimate the value of Jimbo and Pelini the last two years. I dont know if we would be 22-4 without them right now.
Which to me is the proof that there is not a big rift between Miles and Fisher. If Miles had as many disagreements with Jimbo has people speculate they do than Miles would be gone already, either fired or forced out.
