Seemed like a nice guy, but he was not an effective leader. He let the Tea party take over from the traditional Republicans and he has no support from any of them right now. Look for the GOP to make a hard right turn next. It's not going to be pretty. It will be interesting to see what the traditional Reagan republicans will do. Fade away, fight back, or go their own way. Everybody expected him to resign as Speaker, but leaving Congress is surprising.

They didn't let the tea party take over anything, what they did was cater to the every whim of the liberals even when they had the majority in both houses.
