Ethan Martin, Derrick Taylor, Nikita Wilson, Leonard Mitchell, Howard Carter, plus a lot of very good players that left the state. My point is this state produces more than enough talent to be a consistent winner with the right coach in place and I think most agree Brady is not that coach.

Your writing style implies that you are not an intelligent person. Just an observation.

Nope, he does this to me all the time.
shows his intelligence because he has no real argument so he has already lost.

LSU has 3 players that were in the top 50 in the NBA. I am not sure many schools can boast that other than elite programs such as UCLA, Duke, Kentucky and Indiana. We have always been known for great individual players and not necessarily great teams. Same with the girls... watch when Augustus leaves.

I was there in the 80's and was a part of some very exciting times. I agree that after Dale's 7th year, he was ready for a great run. Unfortunately, we didn't have to worry as much back then of kids jumping to the pros at such an alarming rate. Short of a good point guard, I would put the talent we will have next year against some of the teams we had back then.

Antonio Hudson, Stomile Swift, Brandon Bass, and Glen Davis were Mr. Basketball in Louisiana. So we are keeping the best players it seems in the state. Tasmin will be the next one.

Dale was very very fortunate that he got to play the regionals in NO in 81 (of which the NCAA has stopped letting teams play regionals in such close proximity to their campus) and the sub regionals (1st 2 games at Baton Rouge in 86- see above same changes as a result of LSU getting an advantage). Dale is still to this day refered to a guy that could recruit but was more talented in chasing big foot up the matterhorn than he was in coaching the talent he assembled.

I guess what I am trying to say, is a coach that was revered as being the greatest Basketball coach in LSU History didn't even win 60% of his games. We rode Cholly mac out on a railroad and he won 73%.

Do I want us to compete every year for a National Championship? Yes I do. But the landscape in college basketball makes it very difficult unless you get an impact player that is so good (carmello) or an Okafor that stayed 3 years to get lucky enough to get on a roll to win it all (unless you are an elite program like Duke or Kentucky). IF (and that is a big if) we keep our 3 studs, and Tac finally gets it what his role is, we might have some talent that could make that improbable run. Like it or not, Brady did get to the Sweet 16 with that type of talent. Tac will either get brady a championship or get him fired.

    Jeffinbama,
I'm not one to totally disagree with you.
I said the same thing about 3 players being in NBA's top 50, I think John Williams had
a shot at that also if he could've stayed healthy, heck even Stanley Roberts!

I was watching the Kansas vs LSU game today from 1990?
CJ's sophmore year and Shaqs first.
As of then LSU mens basketball team was 194-67 (74%) @ the Assembly Center according to CBS.

I'll give you guys credit for Dales last few years and probation but you guys are not exactly telling the whole story here about this program in the 80's.

I don't care if we compete for championships or not but I don't like the direction this team is going and I'll dispute you with all the good players
staying at home with Martin Zeno and a few others that left last year.
I had a list of 5 that got away last spring.
This team is somewhat crippled with Brady's recruitng issues and players
leaving the team, I believe 3 the last 3 years not including Lloreda.

It was meant as constructive criticism.

As of last year, we were still 73.8% (372-132) in the Maravich Assembly Center. Speaking of Williams and Roberts, they were not even close to having the talent to be in the top 50 in the NBA. Neither of them even made 1st team all-american in college. They didn't have the internal fortitude or the talent to make that step into greatness.

I was showing that we are getting the "best" (singular) player in the state. Because of NBA dreams, kids want to go to a place to be the "man" there. Many kids today do not want to accept the position of being a role player. It is killing their chance at getting to the NBA which is a joke. The NBA is going to continue to hurt the college game for many years to come until they pass the 20 year old rule of coming out.
