i dont think the rule was ever put in place. I like our conf championship game either way, although if it costs us a NC game Ill be sure to change my stance very quickly.
OC's can always be second guessed. We came up short. The biggest mistake was the QB (Russell) not throwing the ball away to stop the clock. In his defense he was giving it all trying to win a game. Sh*t happens. I guess Russell could improve faster, I sure as hell am not one sharp enough to say. Russell is a very good QB right now. Could he be better, who among us couldn't. I just have to understand and get over the fact that no matter how we do, someone is going to want more. One thing I do believe everyone around here can agree to is :geauxtige. PS. If that fade route was so obvious, that could be way he stayed away from it.
Don't forget the Big Ten as well. IMO, if you want to play for a national championship, your conference must provide a conference title game. In both Big Ten and Pac-10, certain teams get a big boost to their conference records when/if they don't have the conference favorite on their schedule and never have to worry about playing them.
You need to look a little closer, I was at the game against AZ and JD Booty did not look anywhere close to as good as Russell.
First off, like Tirk said, the SEC knew it could cost them a chance at anational title because of the risks associated with having a top ranked team play another game against a good team. They wanted the giant dollars that CBS offered. Second, a conference cannot have a championship game unless they have at least 12 teams per the NCAA and the Big Ten and Pac aren't looking to expand other than the Big 10 flirting with Notre Dame a couple of years ago. Maybe someday in the future they will expand.
Here, Here, Ebeneezer! Let the man speak his mind. Surely he ... IS NOT BLIND JR was the # 3 ranked passer (Pass Efficiency Rating) ... AS YOU SAY However, "issy" doesn't have it all "right" ... nor all "wrong" ... da TRUTH is somewhere "in da middle" ... as Auburn & Nebraska are Apples & Oranges Anyone notice ... THE COMPARISON OF ARIZONA ... apples & apples Arizona Defense = Apples Both JR & Booty both had 'em some "apples" this year. LSU 45-3 ... USC 20-3 Here are Booty's stats for that game J. Booty 24/39 for 180 yds or 61.5% at 4.6 yards/attempt and 1 TD, 1 INT Very respectable indeed. J. Russell 13/20 for 196 yds or 65% at 9.8 yards/attempt and 2 TDs, 1 INT Note: Russell's interception was a meaningless pick with almost no time left just before the half as LSU was pushing for an early "blowout" bonus score ... it came a play after "Big boy" ran 14 yards for a first down. SO, WHOSE THE BEST QB? JR Sorry "issy" ... you're all wet there ... JR is da best However ... There is a "Problem" You're not "wet" there It's called coaching conservatism ... and Les Miles is a conservative Big-10 type coach ... no matter how you slice it. Against Auburn ... Conservatism & Blown calls lost LSU the game 1. Charles Scott did not see a single handoff ... Conservative "bad move" 2. LSU threw far too few passes when the running game was ineffective What I saw against Auburn ... LSU kept up the same conservative "charade" with the game close ... Miles & Co too conservative and afraid to "go for it" and let JR loose and throw 30-40 passes (Like USC does with their "AP Coach of the Year" Petie Carroll) ... Therein lies "THE PROBLEM" my friends ... as plain as the nose on your face. There have been several deletions of my posts recently ... Same conservative moderators "AFRAID" to admit to or see someone post "THE TRUTH". If they chop this one, it only goes to prove one thing ... Conservatism's contagious Have a Nice Day :hihi:
Exactly. Of course it can also help as I believe it did when LSU beat UGA for the second time, thereby pushing LSU into the BCS title game over USC.
