So why wasn't JJ a top 5 pick in the draft? I'll tell you why, because he sucked! As much as I'd like to see him redeem himself and be successful, these posts about how JJ was a quality QB and how his stats compared to other great NCAA QB's is comical. Please give it a break. I don't care how you spin the stats/facts, he was a horrible QB that was surrounded by excellent talent. I have a better chance of winning the poweball TWICE than he has of ever completing a pass in a regular season NFL game.

:D Why don't we ever hear anything about his mechanics? Jefferson has terrible mechanics throwing the football, and has sort of a wind up like Tebow. I'm not sure how he doesn't throw the ball straight into the ground at times. I agree with you though, we have a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa than Jefferson does at being an NFL quarterback.

    Kellen Moore wasn't drafted either...

as for JJ being helped out with talent, 74% of his career pass attempts came during 2009 and 2010, when he had Terrance Toliver as one of his top two WRs, and TT didn't get drafted and has yet to make it off an NFL practice squad. also, JJ never got to play with a TE that got drafted, either.

in addition, 43% of JJs career passing attempts came in 2009, when he wasn't helped out with a good OL or a good running game (our OL allowed 35 sacks in 2009, every other year JJ was here it only allowed 18 to 23... and our running game only averaged 3.67 ypc in 2009, every other year JJ was here it averaged 4.38 to 4.53).

and despite all that holding JJ in 2009 (lack of an excelllent #2 WR, lack of an excellent TE, poor offensive line, poor running game), he still was 182 of 296 (61.5%) for 2,166 yards, 17 TD, 7 INTs and a 137.18 rating (in NFL that would be 93.1)

but yeah, in 2010 had a bad year, a "sophomore slump" if you will, but he did well in 2011:
    61 of 100 (61.0%), 737 yards, 6 TDs, 2 INT, 138.71 rating (in NFL that would be 95.3)

I couldn't help but laugh when I ran across this article today. Talk about an editor with absolutely NO clue...

TAMPA | Jordan Jefferson said he and former Alabama safety Mark Barron hadn't had a chance to talk about the BCS title game in which Barron's Alabama team defeated Jefferson's LSU squad.
They'll have plenty of time for that discussion.
Jefferson, a quarterback, was signed by the Bucs following the club's rookie mini-camp. He was among the 11 college free agents the club announced signing on Monday.
Tampa Bay also signed defensive end Quintin Anderson (Wagner), safety Sean Baker (Ball State), running back De'Anthony Curtis (Arkansas), punter Eric Guthrie (Iowa), tackle Jermarcus Hardrick (Nebraska), fullback Antonio Leak (Henderson State), defensive tackle Jordan Nix (North Carolina), tight end Danny Noble (Toledo), center Moe Petrus (Connecticut) and defensive tackle Myles Wade (Portland State). Tampa Bay also signed veteran free agents Tiquan Underwood (receiver), Derrick Roberson (cornerback) and Hilee Taylor (defensive end), who attended the camp.

Ok, you convinced me, I am wrong. Jefferson is an NFL all pro caliber QB. He'll make Joe Montana look like an average Joe. Let's just forget that he couldn't hit the side of a barn with the football from 5 yards. Let's forget that he couldn't read a defense with an on field tutor. Let's forget that he held the ball longer than Rip Van Winkle napped. Can't wait to see him light it up in the all star game. That arena league all star game is something to see.

Nope, if he only watched the BCS game he was right on target.

i think JJ can at least be as good as Tavaris Jackson. now do I think Tavaris Jackson is a great NFL QB? of course not. but he has made it 6 years in the NFL so far, has played in 51 games (34 as the starter), and for his career is 625 of 1,053 (59.4%) for 7,075 yards, 38 TDs, 35 INTs, 77.7 QB rating

you act like every QB in the NFL is as good as Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning? Did you say Peyton Manning? I would never have thought to compare him to either Manning. However I think he can be compared to 32 other 3rd string QB's in the league and I can't think of one I would cut to keep Jefferson.

They were there, stuck in a one dimensional offense with a QB that didn't know which way was up. The talent was good enough to post an undefeated record despite poor QB play the entire regular season. Are you saying that LSU wasn't a talented football team?

I feel I have a really good answer to that. But I sense I'm running a little short on goodwill.

That game was a total team failure, from the players who were unfocused and resented being forced to play Bama again, all the way up to Les for not having the team properly prepared. All of which culminated in the non-execution of an inexplicable, appalling offensive game plan.

It's over, Jefferson and Lee aren't taking snaps for us anymore, and it's past time to drop this and look to the future.
