Clevelend is the better situation for JaMarcus, but he'd make a little less money and LSU wouldn't get to say we produced the number 1 draft pick...

And I thought you were all about team. I guess a little individual praise never hurt anyone.

I meant he was a COLLEGE FOOTBALL CO-offensive coordinator, and now he's an NFL Head Coach.
Dont worry, we all know USC is a university. :thumb:

Just messing with you Hurricane. Don't forget though, because of Monte, Lane grew up around the NFL and is probably more comfortable in that setting than the college level. He is quite young and has no prior NFL experience but he's VERY smart.

I like Cleveland for Jamarcus but only marginally better than Oakland. Cleveland is in a mess too. That team was destroyed by the previous group in charge (Butch Davis & Carmen Policy) and they have a long way to go. Crennel is widely reported to be on the hot seat and been accused of making bone headed coaching mistakes. They have a new OC that will be running what Crennel wants which is a short passing game/run oriented offense. Not really the kind of offense for Jamarcus to shine in but could very well help him develop along at a nice pace. Maybe once they see what Jamarcus can do they will open it up a little buy Crennel's public stance since day 1 has been to run that kind of controlled offense.

Cleveland is the better of two bad situations but when you are talking the potential number one pick you are usually going to a pretty crappy team or they wouldnt have the number 1 pick to begin with. If JR has to fall from the number 1 pick I would rather him fall to 4th and get on with Tampa but that is highly unlikely. The possibility still exists that the Raiders will trade the pick and I wouldnt be surprised if they do.

Its much easier to go from coaching in the NFL to college, as we saw with Pete Carroll who was considered an average coach in the NFL. Whereas, its more difficult to go from coaching college football to the NFL. We've seen too many cases where that happened, with Saban being the last casualty. So, Kiffin has to deal with that transition as well as learn how to be a head coach since he has no experience with that. What a joke. As OC, a lot of SC's own fans criticized him so I don't think anybody really expects this thing to end well. He was no Norm Chow, and Norm Chow isn't even a head coach despite being acclaimed as one of the best, if not the best, OC in college football. If you're going to go pick a college guy, shouldn't you pick somebody with at least some head coaching experience? Or, if you go and hire an assistant, hire somebody who's an assistant at the NFL level? You have to wonder outloud why Kiffin is a HC in the NFL, while Chow is an OC in the NFL? Seriously, without those family connections, you have to question if Kiffin would even have had this oppurtunity.

I agree, that in some ways, it will be a blessing for JR if the Raiders skip him for somebody else. Less pressure on the guy, and less infamy if he turns out to be a bust. Poor Mario Williams, he'll always be the guy who was selected first, ahead of Reggie Bush, and local hometown hero, Vince Young. If Cleavland has to choose between JR and Brady Quinn, there will be additional pressure to pick BQ because he would be the local kid coming home.
