I think it all depends on Trent Green getting traded. From there, the dominoes would fall where Dante Culpepper would end up with the Raiders and reunited with Randy Moss. DC has a cannon arm like JR and would probably cost less money and you wouldn't have to use the number one pick on a QB, which is the hardest thing in the draft to determine how succesful a QB will be. With a QB in place, you could then draft Calvin Johnson, whom many consider the best player in the draft, or Adrian Peterson or some other position player.

Plus, the Raiders defense last year was actually pretty good. If you couple that with a decent offense, that would have been a playoff team. As much upside as JR might have, he's still a project and its going to take him a few years to develop him. By the time he's ready, the defense might have peaked already and all those WRs would be a few years older.

But, Oakland doesn't have an O line either to give the QB to throw the ball either. With ND, we've all seen how a porous O line can really hurt even a great QB. You could make the argument that what Oakland really needs to do is pick Joe Thomas, the left tackle from Wisconsin.

Given there have only been 4 O-linemen ever taken with the first pick, two of those were centers, I don't see them going that route.

Al Davis has been a dufus owner for years now, it's hardly the time for riteous indignation on the part of Raider Nation. Do you not get it? Nobody else wanted to work for the man. Chow and Davis would NEVER work. Different philosophy, different character, different styles, you name it.

I said Chow was reserved and not completely comfortable with any type of spotlight. I did NOT say Kiffin was gregarious....that was your assumption. It's not like the Raiders had the first available HC position. Chow has been considered and turned down on more than one occasion. Why do you think that is? Are all NFL owners incapable of properly interviewing the man? He is a STELLAR OC, just not a HC. Not everyone is capable of ascending the ladder of leadership.

Developing a QB might be just ONE responsibility for the mess that is the Oakland Raiders. Chow would have the lack of an O line and Randy Moss to contend with. Kiffin is a no-nonsense, straight talking, football mind. It may become a failed experiment but again, Davis brought the situation on himself. I like JR and being #1 will pale in comparison when considering what will become his daily life after the draft is over. He deserves better than Al Davis.

You're right as far as a first pick. However a more likely possibility is if they trade down for later round picks and get the linemen they need.

Yeah. But I don't see anyone wanting to give up enough for a first overall pick. Since this years draft isn't really top heavy why not sit back and wait to see what lands in your lap. Your probably going to get a pretty good player if you pick 1st or 10th.

No doubt. This is a very stacked draft at just about every position. Of all those in the top 10-15, which team has the most to offer in terms of later rounds?

San Fran no doubt. I think they have like 3 3rd's and 4 4th's, or something crazy like that. They could afford to lose some of those if they are looking for a certain player.

You have some strong points but it is not going to happen for one major reason. Culpepper is going to be expensive(I think he has a $5Mill tag for next year) and a #1 draft pick is even more. I think that would actually hurt the franchise more in the long-run with all the salary cap issues that would follow.

From what I can tell they are looking more at Offensive players but not any one in particular. I could see them trading up but not for #1. The compensatory picks they got have put them in a pretty good position.

I don't put much stock in Dante to the Raiders.... He can't pass a physical.
