1. That's a point continuously brought up as well. How many coaches left during his years at LSU? 4? Where did they go? What position did they hold at LSU and what position did they take when they left?

Record goes against that. The games you lost the last few years were games that any SEC team could have lost. In one breath one says that no game in the SEC is a given. But, when one exhales, they say otherwise.

When a team loses a bowl game against a top 15 team it's understandable. When a team loses at Auburn or Arkansas, it's understandable.

You can't proclaim the fact that the SEC schedule is tough but then blame a coach for losing SEC games in the same sentence. It would almost fall into unrealistic expectations.
  2. Is is the QB that decides to throw the ball or is it the OC and HC? I suppose, if those receivers were covered or it was a bad choice the OC/HC said go ahead and throw the ball?

Again, no credit given to the defensive backs who had the play covered or looking at the QB who misread the play or tried to force it.

I don't blame Saban or Applewhite for the 100 yard INT return for a TD against MSU. JPW tried to force the play.
  3. It wasn't just the fact that he dropped a few games he shouldn't have, but we constantly found ourselves struggling against lowly opponents and even needed last minute plays to pull out many wins over them.

Of course the UAB loss is well documented...in 01' we lost to a 7-4 Ole Miss team...it wasn't that Virginia Tech beat us, they ran us off the field, it would have been nice if we even showed up for the game...in 02' we needed a last minute hail mary to beat Kentucky...got shut out by Bama 31-0 in that same year...same year we lost to Arky when the game was seemingly in hand and went on to get pounded by Texas in the Cotton Bowl...in 04' we needed a miracle come from behind performance to beat an unranked Oregon State (they would have won that game had their kicker not missed so many FG's)...that same year we got man handled by Georgia 45-16 and squeaked one out against Troy 24-20 and went on to lose to Iowa in the Cap One Bowl when the game was seemingly in hand.

Other scores that make one scratch his head:
    LSU-31 Utah St.-14
    LSU-30 Middle Tennessee St.-14
    LSU-35 Citadel (SC)-10
    LSU-35 Western Illinois-7

I'm not trying to prove that Saban can't coach, just that he's no Spurrier or Meyer and is certainly not what the media makes him out to be. You might say it's nitpick, but we LSU fans spent many a Saturdays biting our nails.
  4. I just have to ask though... what were you doing to your nails prior to Saban's arrival?

  5. Nails...nails???? We are suppose to have nails during football season...

Reason #167 why ot is single during football season.

Continue on about Saban...I have nothing...

  6. Nothing, there was no drama back then because the games were usually not very close.
Once Dinardo hit bottom, If I remember correctly it wasn't too long after beating #1 Florida at home, there was no drama in LSU football.
The nails got trimmed in those days during baseball season!
  7. The 2001 loss to Ole Miss was particularly hard to take. IIRC we were winning most of the game, and should have taken it. Ole Miss came back in and won it in the closing minutes.

Someone else will likely remember it better than I, but I recall seeing very predictable play calling and a lack of adjustments needed to stop the momentum shift.

That game was a true low point of the 01 season.
  8. Terry...I'm referring to the NON SEC games that he lost at LSU...and the BLOWOUT SEC losses he had at LSU. How many non conference games has Miles lost?? Anyone? Buehler??

How many losses to unranked opponents does Miles have? What's that?
  9. No. JPW was running for his life. He was just trying not to get killed. I don't know what good it does to get rid of the ball. You're still gonna get killed.

I don't blame Saban OR Applewhite for the INT Sarah threw. But to only get 4 FG's against MSU is a joke. He was absolutely outcoached by Sylvester. Quite frankly, he got Croomed.

This one play you keep bringing up should not have been the difference in the game. You're telling me you guys can hang 40+ on UcheaT, and 30+ on LSU, but the vaunted MSU defense stifles Bama?? Bottom line, he has a tendency to not show up against lesser opponents.
  10. This isn't about Miles.
