    well i think that was everyone's beef with russel – he put us in way too many "have to make this or we lose" situations.

    i'm not getting into that right now, because it's 5 threads worth of stuff, but hopefull flynn won't make the mistakes or have the play calling that leads to said mistakes that russel had.

    i'm a huge flynn fan, but i know that the throw that beat az st was a jr only throw, same with tennessee, alabama, etc. but on the flip i think that the fumble on the one at florida is a jr only play, the 3 ints per game is a jr thing only.

    i'm kinda rambling because it's early and i missed my coffee but the point is that yeah we have stuff to be worried about and flynn can't make those huge throws that jr did, but at the same time we had plenty of stuff to worry about with jr at the helm. we'll be fine.

    Yeah. A fumbled punt return, kickoff return, and blocked punt had nothing to do with us losing that game.

    Surely you don't believe that we would not have blown out every team had Russell not made mistakes. Close games happen, and Flynn will have to face one eventually regardless of how few mistakes he makes.

    Pardon me, but JR was not a "3 ints per game" guy, either. Check his stats. There was an abomination here and there, but it was not a trend.

    I think Flynn will have a special year but my only concern is will he be as great when teams finally get tape to study on him. It might be a factor in the second half of the year. With JR you could study tape all day but he was able to do what he does best no matter what you threw at him. IMO Flynn will have this kind of drive after being behind JR so long.

    BTW, the fumble on the one during the Florida game is not JRs fault as much as the Center who left too early to make a block and dropped his ass. Every coach blames the center for a fumbled snap like that.

    He didn't need to be great statistically, which he wasn't. But as far as being a leader, making the plays when they were needed most, and posing a dual-threat to the defense, he certainly was. I can think of 2 great 3rd and long throws that he made which lead to scores just off the top of my head...one 20 (+/-) yarder to Bowe, and of course, the 50 yard bomb to Davis.

    The real unknown is, can he do this when he doesn't have a month to prepare for the other team?

    I have one, but it is not very good. There is a "pause" in it during the 3rd quarter that cuts out about 10 points LSU scored.

    I understand. Flynn had an exceptional bowl game. But in his other short appearances, he has been very mediocre. Of course, that's what we said about Rohan before his senior year, too.
