https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Bedroom_for_contributors_controversy from wiki: during the period 1993–96, there were 938 people who stayed overnight at the White House, of whom 821 were ensituated the Lincoln Bedroom. Of these, 128 were public officials and dignitaries of some kind and 67 were people from the arts and entertainment world. Of the rest, most were friends of the Clintons, of which over half were from the couple's Arkansas days; the number of non-friends who were supporters was some fraction of 111. The one-term total of 938 compared to that of 284 overnight visitors during the four years of the Presidency of George H.W. Bush. A CNN report said that just during the years 1995-96, some $5.4 million was given to the DNC by overnight stayers, with 24 of them giving over $100,000. So it was, in my way of thinking, a shitty thing to do,.. exchanging over night stays in the White House for campaign contributions to the DNC,.. and that's where the money went @Winston. But Clinton didn't start it, his predecessor, George Bush Sr did the same thing, selling overnight stays in exchange for contributions to the RNC,.. though on a smaller scale.. Bush's son "Peckerhead" made fun of these Clinton actions during his Presidential campaign, while engaging in similar practices with visitors to the Texas Governor's Mansion. Obama put a stop to it,.. First Lady Michelle Obama said, "We don’t allow guests to stay in this room anymore". I'm glad, it was a shameful thing to do.
Hard for me to keep up with republican's latest boogie man, should have known it was their Rozeera though.
Yeah I didn't know that, had I, I would have definitely been against it. That's just fucked up, if you're gonna do something like that it should all go to United Way or Red Cross or something like that. Not the DNC.
You're right also the WAPO article I cited is much more accurate that @GiantDuckFan Wiki post. Read the differences in how HW Bush and Clinton treated the Lincoln bedroom invites. The Wiki article is so biased as to be inaccurate.
Red Cross, cool. United Way, no way. The guy who ran United way spent $80,000 of the money donated after 9/11 to buy a desk for his office. Some corporations coerces their employees to donate a percentage of their wages to United Way. Also one of their former presidents spent $3 million on drugs and prostitutes.
