but i don't think they are saying it's harmless(just a few drinks), they are saying it's a problem (like he's a party lush) and affecting his play. all i'm saying is that everyone has the right to defend themselves.

but yes, he could have just as easily dismissed this as well and not offered a response. but he did and i was just defending his right to do so. no worries!:thumb:

I love JV (obviously), he is the man. I've seen everything I need to see about his character when I watch him play special teams. He may have been somewhat of a dissapointment last year, but he still busted his ass on ST. And it is college, people party, athletes can too, they need to get over it (that board is a joke in terms of maturity level of some fans anyway).

To you guys that say that jv is being immature, I don't think that's the case at all. He responded in a very acceptable and very classy way. He asked nothing more than for people who dont know him to keep his name out of their mouths.

He admit's to going out. I think it's time for us to all take a step back and remember these guys are college kids and this should be the time of their lives. I'd like to bet he's a lot more responsible than 75% of the students at LSU. If you want to critisize someone, critisize the coaching staff, or the administrators of the school that think the LSU party image is good for recruiting. While students party every saturday during game day, he takes helmets to the rib cage and blocks guys twice his size, I think he's entitled to a beer or 12 if he wants them.

Who knows, maybe he frequents tigerforums and he'll read this, but get off his case and let him be a college kid.

So fans can throw it out at him, but if he defends himself, it's immature? Please! He's got just as much right to defend his name as the fan has of dishing out the smack.
Personally, I don't think direct criticism has a place in college football, especially in the players personal life. Some people forget we are dealing with kids, not grown men who are overpaid like in the NFL. College kids will be college kids, if they want to go out and have fun, then great.

Yes, true. It was right for him to defend himself and wrong at the sametime.

One of my good friends who goes to LSU told me a couple of weeks ago that the LSU baseball team would be out partying around 1:00-2:00 in the morning with a 1:30 P.M. game the next day. I wonder if any of this happened when Skip was the coach. At least in football the players all stay at a hotel and have a curfew.

    Objection, your honor. Blatant hearsay.

The forum will disregard PGTiger's comments.

While I agree with you there, I just think it reflects badly on JV to defend himself against something so silly. He needs to be worried about making sure he is in shape and ready for football season, but instead he seems to be more worried about what the fans think of him.
