    I don't know that much about Oregon so I looked at their schedule. I see one quality win against Washington who was ranked #25 at the time.

    Yes, Alabama at 4 and Oregon at 6 was going to be problematic for Oregon.

    Now with Alabama only 1 spot ahead, it's easy for them to jump Oregon over Alabama in that last weekend when Alabama is idle.
