In 1989 LSU had 3 LB'ers picked in the NFL Draft, in 2003 Bradie James was drafted. Then we had Riley(2010) and Sheppard(2011), not a good track record with the LB'ers. This should change.
I think we're in a really wonderful era for LSU defense in general but more specifically the linebacker corps in terms of productivity at the next level. Guys like Dion Jones and Kwon Alexander are going to have bright NFL careers under the tutelage of Chief and the structure with which we now implement our defense. We did not see this even under Pelini when we had some very good players. Beckwith I thought had a shot in the NFL, but that didn't work out. We're seeing our guys really well-learned leave LSU now and head to the pros in a manner we have not seen in quite some time as Dad pointed out.
I still think we'd have won the Florida game had OBJ not fumbled that 50-yard completion in the 3rd quarter. That was an abysmal offensive game. Also, that was the last game for Alex Hurst, who have obviously mailed it in by that time.
In the Florida loss last year, I recall them running the ball on a staggering number of consecutive plays. We simply could not get off the field to give it back to our offense. I'm guessing that was shortly after Minter was lost for the game. Does anyone remember how many consecutive running plays they had?
IIRC it was double digits, something like 13. I think they went an entire quarter without a pass attempt.
