    guys,

you are misreading the charges. he wasn't only arrested with possession. he was arrested for intent to distribute. we are not talking about smoking a joint in his car, we are talking about him selling pot to other students. granted i am far from being an angel myself but we have to consider if this is the type of character that we want on the team. We have come a long way since Dinardo and now is not the time to start making exceptions.

I understand that this kid is extremly talented. I am from Opelousas originally and followed him through the local papers. I can tell you this, he may be talented but he is not irreplacable.

    LSU's policy is 3 strikes

That's the reason for the Damien James episode 2 years ago. He had failed 2, then smoked the night before a random drug test. He knew he failed and was too embarassed to face Saban or the team so he just never went back.

No he wasn't, the other guy got intent to distribute and the simple posession is a misdemeanor. To crucify a young kid for a misdemeanor is just about as stupid as what he did. And for you TigerRagAndrew, why do you think someone should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest for using marijuana? Just because it is against the law or do you know something else? No flame, just a question

boot him. Crap first McGill now this, we really are starting to look like Miami. How many posts have I read ragging on Willie. We have to take severe disciplinary action. If we can since he actually does not attend LSU yet.

in law it is what we refer to as a slippery slope. if you allow this then where do you draw the line. how are we to say that simple possession is ok, but intent to distribute is bad. so you send the message to the rest of the team that having pot is ok but not too much. everytime you make an exception to the rule you are asking for people to bend the rule just a little more. now you tell me, if that was your kid would you look the other way and say it is a little pot or would you nix it in the bud.

Saban will not turn a blind eye to this. He will wait and see what happens and if the charges stick he will boot Keys before he ever has a chance to put on an LSU uniform. there are too many kids that are walking on that deserve a scholy for this to be overlooked.

    Remember Saban=Zero Bullsh!t

I think that if he is guilty he should be put off the team. It would not end his career, just his career at LSU. If we want the kind of a program that we have been bragging about, then we have to uphold the rules. Now, I don't know what the team rules are , but my wild guess is that if you get arrested for drugs it is against the rules. We are not Miami, and we don't want to be! I hope Saban continues to run the kind of program we can be proud of!

(And I don't go for the argument that you give him a warning because so many other players smoke pot. The point is that we don't want them to, and if they get caught they should be put off the team.)

PS. Schools are drug free zones and carry stiffer penalties for drug offenses.

here's the deal... none of your opinions matter, nor mine. its like someone telling you how you should discipline your kids.... there's not set way or rule as each situation is different. If Saban thinks this kid is a good kid and not a detriment to the team and thinks this kid deserves a chance, he'll keep him. No need to specualte what you should do since you don't know the ins and outs of the kid or the coach or the team. I agree, other players smoking dope has nothing to do with him individually. Doesn't make it right but let's let the coach decide how wrong it was.

Damien James was merely not allowed to start against Virginia Tech after the first positive test...

Also, I don't recall ANY of you downing Eric Edwards at all throughout his LSU career, and I saw that guy do some questionable stuff (Hell, I was doing it, too ;-)...and I also saw him absolutely DESTROY some guy at Bogie's one night...

It was common knowledge around Tigertown...so where were all of you then who are now calling for McGill's head? Also, Tim Pope had a pretty checkered past in high school. We signed him knowing he punched out his coach in high school. That didn't deter us...

One mistake such as this shouldn't be something that seals his fate permanently. Lord knows at 25 I look back and wonder how I came through my youth unscathed and with no criminal record after some of those late night fights and other questionable decisions...

Let's not cast too many stones around here...Because the glass houses sure do look mighty fine at this point...The rush to judgement is strange...

I personally don't think this team is nearly as perfect crime/character wise as everyone thinks. Sure it is good, but LSU fans act like these guys are perfect. It just isn't the case IMO. I think a lot of you would be surpised if you knew everything. (not that I do)
