Think of Trindon getting the ball...that was just kicked from the 30 yd line, so likely not a touchback. Plenty of chances this year, do I see.:thumb: Glass half full, man...glass half full.:hihi:
Peveto said that the punt formation would be slightly different and that the fans would like the change. He said that they actually use several variations of it and it not only offers good protection, but enables a number of run and pass options. It's a lot like the old single wing with a full-house backfield.
Don't know if you remember the "Suggestions" made by Beamer after their bowl game last year but their practices were still open to the public so we just might have some film. In case anyone isn't aware, they lost to Georgia 31-24 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl and Beamer felt Ga. may have “Spied” cause he felt Georgia knew what they were going to do on offense.
Actually, I think that we did have a punt partially blocked last year. Last week, I re-watched all of the games I had recorded from year. They all kind of mush together, but we were going from right to left on TV deep in our own territory. The ball went out on the far side line at about the 50 and it ended up being a nice punt. I think that it was against Bummer or Arky. So it sort of supports both arguments. We had a break down and a fine punt.
Yes, they did and we had at least two blocked last year (Can't remember which game). So what does that mean??? Two blocked punts..... must be the formation?? I bet if Virginia Tech came and blocked two punts in one game people here would be screaming about the formation...........Well, here's a little surprise for all the fair weather fans- Last time we played VT, they blocked two punts, in the same game, on the way to their 26-8 win. That happened with the "Old" formation, so, why didn't anyone yell about our punt formation?? Cause most didn't have enough knowledge that any others existed. http://www.techsideline.com/football/2002/games/lsurecap.htm God forbid we let Miss. St. block one with that silly formation; however, in '99 they blocked TWO, again, with the "Old" formation......and again, no yelling/screaming for changes in the formation. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/1999/10/23/archive/main67794.shtml Bottom line, blocked punts happen. On every play, when the ball is snapped you have 11 athletes accounting for 11 others- someone wins each battle and someone gets burned..........we call it execution. You just hope our kids don't get beat more times than we out-execute our opponents.
more like 10 athletes accounting for 11 others. and blocked punts do happen, but for some teams more than others. im not worried. thats the coaches job.
Only if they have nobody to return the punt...and for what it's worth, I think the UF blocked punts happened before we installed the punt ugly formation.I could be wrong, but we didn't use that formation all season last year. Good points made by 'tiga.:thumb:
