Well, I for one have been a little critical of the LSU basketball team and the coach the last few weeks. It was tough losing 3 games in a row but what bothered me most was this team having scoring droughts like they did. If it would've been 3 minutes or less or maybe even 5 minutes I wouldn't have been as worried. Kudos to John Brady and the team for the game today. They passed really well and beat the zone and played really well all game including playing better defense and thier was some hustle plays like Mitchell calling timeout as he went out of bounds and Tack Minor and Koundjia stealing the ball. Lloreda was a monster as well fighting for a rebound and going back up for a tough shot on 1 play. They had less than 10 turnovers today for the game. Bass had a couple of monster plays including a dunk and was fouled. Where would this team be without Darrel Mitchell? He is just as big of a monster as Bass or Lloreda is on the inside. He is the man on the outside, He just about won the 1st Bama game single handedly. Lets hope they can keep playing this well. I really think those games of struggling and trying to beat the zone is a blessing in disguise now. This team has grown up before our eyes!
We have yet to see the best of what this team has to offer! These guys have improved so much over the last couple weeks. We knew they would find the basket sooner or later. LSU's defense has won(like today) at least 8 games so far this year.
Read my post from a couple of weeks ago when I said they would be a lot better by now than they were then and by the end of the season would be a lot better than they are now.
Typical Brady team. Tenacious defense. Mediocre offense. He doesn't know how to free up low posts though with most teams playing zone because of our horrid outside shooting, this will be left for future teams. If we had as many outside set plays as inside, even though we don't hit the shots, we'd at least look like we knew what we were doing on offense. Hire Paul Westphall as assitant coach.
Even Dale's team beat Westfall's. Dale who had a thirty point lead over Kentucky, at the half, and then lost to a Petino coached team.
It should be pointed out what a young team they are. I think they will be better next year. OF COURSE we will miss our star, but the "team" should be improved.
