it is not evidenced by my mitochondrial DNA. For whatever reason, many Americans claim American Indian Ancestry. I doubt that it is true in all cases. However, there has been an historic infusion of European genes into the American Indian population.
lots and lots of people claim indian heritage, and almost none of them actually have it. it is like a family urban legend, the grandma "cherokee princess". people think it is cool.
