Re: Did I say love? I wonder how long this marriage will last. Before last season Al Davis felt bad about firing Art Shell after one year. He hired him and said during the season that he wasn't going to fire him and then did after the season. I wonder what Al Davis thinks about himself firing Mike Shanahan all those years ago. He still OWES Mike Shanahan money and Mike told Al Davis that if he gave him the money he would donate it to the Oakland school system.
In response Nutria I'd have to say that A) I'm properly educated and like to think of myself as a lifelong student. B) My B.S. meter is pretty good. Are you saying Southern charm isn't real? C) You're probably right but don't tell tiga. He's my favorite bayou bengal. Here kitty, kitty, kitty.
Re: Lane Kiffen to Oakland Raiders First of all, as she stated, she's not a "Tiger fan" Secondly, as unpopular as it is, the bottom line is that USC didn't "Annoint itself", the AP poll voted to give them a share. You may be thinking of the "People's Championship" maybe when Auburn went 13-0 and the system denied them the chance to play for a NC game. What you bring up are a result of the shortcomings are of the same system that secured ND a royal ass whipping in the Sugar Bowl. It's unfortunate that the BCS created a situation that led to a lot of hard feelings (Even hatred) between two elite programs (LSU & USC- not ND); however, the ones who are nice enough to come here and share information (And believe me, hers is solid) deserve to be treated with respect. :thumb:
Weak bitter even for you What my comments have to do with the results of 2003 is beyond understanding. Honestly, your post seems to be a lousy attempt at creating hostility. It won't work. I like the Tigers! My opinion is not shared by all Trojans and they are entitled to their opinions as well. The facts are, prior to the last game USC was ranked first, followed by Oklahoma and LSU. Both human polls kept us there but the computers put as at #3 and we didn't go to the NC game. What school in that situation wouldn't be disappointed? It's happened since then and every school that gets screwed has a right to be a little pissy. Personally I would have loved to play LSU that year and just settle it. It didn't happen, I can't change it, and I don't waste any time thinking about it anymore. I do look forward to a potential match up with LSU in January in New Orleans. A long road no doubt for both teams but I can still wish. Now, let's talk about that record the irish are working on. What is it now.....9 straight bowl losses? At least LSU left no doubt about who won the Sugar Bowl this year.
uscvball - he won't change Bitter is doing the same thing he does on his own board - slinging insults to try to get people riled up. He even seems to be reasonable on occasion, but it is just a matter of time before he flames. I am always amazed when a team gets destroyed by another, and their fans still think they have any validity in pointing fingers. I want to believe that most ND fans are not this pathetic, but sadly we don't get many examples to dispute this. Bitter, are you actually picking a fight with a USC fan on a LSU board? WTF??? Don't you have to go order your Sugar Bowl Champion hat??
Talent to talent has nothing to do with the equation. Your talent has to perform and on that day, ours didn't. Our Oline got beat....badly.....by a very good ucla Dline. I already said no adjustments were made however the bruins played very inspired football and our guys were as flat as Evangeline Parish. Upsets happen, that's why the game is played, not talked about. Bringing in protection on the final drive and then getting lucky with blown tackles by the bruins does not constitute much of a successful plan by your OC. And you neglect to acknowledge that we had co-OC's. Kiffin and Sarkisian called the shots. Sarkisian was mentored as a QB by CHOW and further indoctrinated into the CHOW system before CHOW left SC. If Kiffin holds responsibility for the loss, then so does Sark. Laughingstock? The one who's laughing the hardest is Lane...........all the way to the bank. Chow has had multiple opportunities at several jobs and has yet to land one. There's a reason for that. Players typically love the guy (ML for sure), he's got a great offensive mind, and yet he's completely ineffective in most interpersonal communication. Norm had career aspirations that weren't going to be met at SC and his leaving was not "orchestrated" by anyone. Time to stop using up space in The Den to hash out SC/irish feuds. Geaux Tigers.
And, why were there no adjustments made, hmmm..... Why keep running the exact same plays when they hadn't been working all game long? Chow is recognized as one of the greatest OCs in college history, and been nationally recognized for his abilities as OC. Just look at all the QBs who he's developed- Jim McMahon, Steve Young, Ty Detemer, Philips River, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and Vince Young. You don't have a chinaman's chance in convincing me that Lane Kiffin is a better OC than Chow.
Luckily we don't have to, since the man writing the checks is already convinced he is a better choice. Shouldn't you take this to a USC board, or do you not want to have to deal with more than one person actually involved in the argument? I just hope JR doesn't go there, I can't see a good situation in Oakland anytime soon.
