LSU blows out Auburn, and drops from #11 to #13 http://vegassportsconnect.com/poll/cfb/2009/week9.html From Preseason to now, this is how they have ranked LSU: #13, #14, #16, #12, #14, #7, #12, #11, #13 Compare to: AP Poll #11, #11, #11, #7, #4, #4, #10, #9, #9 Coaches Poll #9, #9, #9, #7, #4, #4, #10, #10, #9
Thats because they don't do it based on where you are right now, but rather how they think you will finish based on the competition you play.
I have never seen that chart or really know how to interpret the LVSC. But the thing that stands out to me is big difference there is between the 4th team and the rest of the top 25. I understand UF, Bama, and UT kept on a level above the rest of the teams. But to throw USC in the top 4 is odd. You would not think you would have the media bias in anything related to Vegas.
See my prior post. From http://vegassportsconnect.com/poll/cfb/2009/week9.html Based on the above, IMHO, this "oddsmaking company," has ranked USuCk high because of its belief that more money will be bet on them than any team they play which is ranked below them. Therefore, it is telling oddsmakers points will be required to keep the for/against bets even, which is how bookies make money.
Vegas doesnt care about anything but money. Those rankings are based on pure factual evidence. No preseason polls, no weak ass teams going undefeated getting ranked. It is where you are. I love my tigers but based on the entire body of work that is where vegas sees them.
i dont get it. is this ranking based purely on facts or does it account for expected better's tendencies?
