“a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes.”

    But it's a mandate though....

You are so uninformed, it is embarrassing. It's far more than a few and it has been going on for some time.

Check this list for about a hundred examples of laws proposed by Republicans that are the reason they are perceived the way they are.

    http://www.politicususa.com/proof-war-women-2

The GOP refuses to understand women are simply NOT going to allow government to strip away the rights they’ve been living with for many decades. Most astonishing is the fact that Republicans are so lost in their own delusions, fear and biases that they don’t get they are campaigning against their own best interests. Since taking over the House in 2010, Republicans have introduced 916 anti-women Bills related to reproductive rights.

What rights are being stripped away? Women can still go have their babies aborted. No one is stopping that. You act as if 75% of the nation agrees with abortions. If local communities vote to not fund clinics through tax dollars, so be it. It is their choice.....

You can act like majority of the nation agrees with you, but you are denying the facts.

You can cite right wing nuts, but there are just as many nut jobs on the left.

Bullshit. Republicans have proposed 916 laws to stop or restrict abortion in the last 4 years! And that is just the federal efforts. The state republicans have proposed even more. Get your head out of the sand. And tell your party to do the same.

Facts? Here are some facts from a more recent poll. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2014/03/06/cnn-poll-wide-divide-over-abortion/

"27% say that abortion should be legal in all circumstances, 13% say it should be legal in most circumstances, 38% say that it should be legal in few circumstances, and 20% say abortion should always be illegal."

One fifth of Americans think all abortion should be illegal. There is a reason that Roe v. Wade has never been overturned. Most Americans do not want abortion to be criminalized.

"Republicans are twice as likely as Democrats to say that abortion should always be illegal. But only a minority of the rank-and-file members of both parties take an extreme position on the issue, with just 31% of Republicans calling for a complete ban on abortion and just 32% of Democrats saying that abortion should be legal in all circumstances."
Only a third of Republicans favor outlawing all abortions.

If that was true then women and moderate voters would not be fleeing the GOP. Left-wing nut-jobs hug trees and stage sit-ins. Right wing nut-jobs murder doctors, burn clinics, and set off bombs at the Olympics to protest abortion.

And I'm not talking about the GOP nut-jobs saying that rape is voluntary or that rape does not result in pregnancy. I'm cited hundreds of mainstream republicans proposing laws that restrict a women's right to make her own reproductive decisions. And damned few of them ever pass because, despite their rhetoric, their constituencies don't want to criminalize personal choice. The Republican hypocrisy is HUGE. They condemn government intrusion into everything, yet they demand that the government interfere with a most private and personal family and religious issue.

You are right red. Only the GOP kills, rapes, are loones, etc...

"But only a minority of the rank-and-file members of both parties take an extreme position on the issue, with just 31% of Republicans calling for a complete ban on abortion and just 32% of Democrats saying that abortion should be legal in all circumstances."

So you are saying that I am right? becuase you paint a broad picture that GOP hates women etc...

I can make a case that the left hates white people with those kind of numbers.
