I just don't know how you do this in the current Political atmosphere that is Louisiana. Our state isn't such a sink hole that only football matters. So I don't think it can happen, I hope it does but I don't see it happening.
LSU is one of the few universities in the country with an athletic program that is financially self-sustaining. But that does not matter to a great many people. When coaches get raises or large sums are spent on facilities, there are many vocal people out there that will bitch about spending university funds on these things. It doesn't matter how many times you correct them; they believe what they want to believe, and they make enough noise that they can often get the uninformed to believe them.
This is all true, doesn't change the perception however. They could scream it all day long, people see the coach at a state institution gets paid X million dollars and they immediately go I don't want to pay for that, TAXES are bad mk. People are stupid
