It should be an interesting week of baseball to see which SEC teams can gain a top 8 seed. Rank Rating W L Team 1. 0.658 41 11 Miami, Florida 2. 0.652 48 11 Texas 3. 0.633 39 14 Arizona State 4. 0.625 41 15 Louisiana State 5. 0.622 41 15 South Carolina 6. 0.622 39 17 Mississippi 7. 0.620 38 18 Florida 8. 0.616 40 11 Rice 9. 0.615 42 11 Virginia 10. 0.614 47 9 East Carolina 11. 0.614 37 18 Georgia 12. 0.613 37 19 Florida State 13. 0.611 38 17 Georgia Tech 14. 0.610 37 19 Arkansas Here's the complete list ... http://www.boydsworld.com/baseball/rpi/currentrpi.html
And I'll go on record now as saying that any team that wins the SEC Championship should get a Top 8 seed ... 6 teams in the top 14 shows just how tough this league is in baseball! Don't know if Georgia will get one, but they should...
It will be hard for teams to move up more than 2 spots with only the tourneys left but it is possible, the RPI's just don't move all that much. Virginia would have to lose 2 in a row almost and UGA win a couple. Seems kind of weird to see the teams which won the East and the West in the SEC on the outside looking in right now.
As I noted, so many have always rode Stanford's jock they have moved them above #1 and are currently listed @ -2.6.
Btw, fire Smoke since LSU only finished #4 in the nation in RPI. What a loser of a coach. Ouch, that hurts. My own sarcasm just bit me. Damn bastid!
Stanford doesn't deserve to be a top 8 seed this year. Not only are they 14-7 in the Pac 10 going into a 3 game series with Arizona State. But their Pac 10 ERA...6.07
Does the PAC 10 have a conference tournament, or do they feel like they don't need one of those too?
