1. He was always up there. It's a lot more common for OC's to be in the box. I haven't heard of many at all that do it from the sidelines.
  2. have to read coverages and if the safety is biting on the run plays, etc... all stuff you can see a lot better up there.
  3. I agree, the best place for the OC is in the box. Get away from some of the sideline distractions and be able to concentrate on what the other team is giving you. The only time it may have hurt us is in quick communication and substituting players in and out. We had to call timeout too many times this year because the play came in late or we didn't have the right personnel in the game in the red zone. It may have saved a few timeouts or penalties if Crowton was on the sideline and gave Perrilloux or the young receivers the heads up that they would be going in the game on the next play. Certainly, it is the kids responsibility to be prepared, but it is the only slight negative I can think of.
  4. Really.

LSU is #93 in kickoff returns and #106 in punt returns (out of 119 DIV-1A schools). It's not much better on punt return yardage defense (#71) and kickoff return yardage defense (#40). Last years numbers are equally dismal.

Peveto may have good kickers this year, but his coaching of the special teams as a whole has been sub-par the entire time he's been in charge. I do think he's a very good linebacker coach and might make a DC some day.
