Josh, negative. Verdict's still out on Temple. My money is on him being the starting PG for LSU in two years, if not this year. Not just because Tack's horrible, but because Temple is the real deal.
temple the real deal? Come on now. You really think Temple is the real deal. He's a 6'5" rail thin player that was an average player for AA University High. Garrett played point guard for University High and averaged about 13 points a game. He would have to improve 100% to be a starting point guard on an SEC team. He should get a few minutes here and there. But I don't see him doing much. Just my opinion but we would have never recruited him if he didn't have the Temple name and if Big Baby wasn't a teammate of his for four years.
Re: temple the real deal? I can name a heck of a lot of rail thin guards and forwards that were very good. Not many 6'5" guards though. And maybe his 13 points a game are a good sign for a PG.
Your right. I'm sure the last name had a lot to do with him getting on the LSU team. Also, I'm sure the Big Baby had something to do with it.
Have you actually ever seen him play? For a PG, Temple can dunk like nobody's business. I'm talking Vince Carter type sickness. I'm telling you, wait until he gets the PT.
Why don't you wait until he actually has a chance to prove himself before disparaging the guy. Fans that treat players like this are the worse part of college sports.
Re: temple the real deal? Exactly. I don't look for PPG from a point guard, I look at assists/game and assist-to-turnover ratio...those are better indicators of what kind of player he is.
Josh Maravich was a very good high school player at St. Paul's. He scored more than 1,000 points in his three-year career at St. Paul's - Named Most Valuable Player of the District his senior year - Averaged 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals per game his senior season. Josh has worked his tail off as a player at LSU. He helps implement the game plan. He's in shape, he's a good student, he stays out of trouble, and he has honored his end of the deal. LSU gave him a scholarship and Josh did everything he was asked to do. Also, Josh will graduate with a degree. Beyond that, isn't this one of those extraordinarily unique situations? Are we so enraged about things that we've come to the point of blasting the program for extending a scholarship to the greatest athlete in LSU sports history? If anyone is looking for rock bottom, please look out your left window...
G. Temple is a good, fundamental ballplayer - I've played many tournaments against him. While he is no superstar, he will be a "Jermaine Williams" like player...as Gordy would say - Solid
Very good point, anyone who thinks that honoring Pistol's legacy by giving his son a scholarship after another player left should be hogtied and beaten.
