But what does that tell about Brady's eye for good talent. We are wasting too many scholarships.

Interstates do run past Convington, LA. B/C he did well at St, Paul does not mean he will be successful at the next level. That is great he is a good student and he is a good guy, but he can not hold a candle to some of the talent that we have in this state and region. Again, a wasted scholarship. You might settle for mediocrity, but I don't.

Good for Josh. I'm glad he scored 18 points per game for St. Paul's. Good for Garrett Temple I'm glad he can dunk like Vince Carter.

The point is neither of these kids are Division I basketball players. Nothing against them. The point is we are wasting scholarships. I'm sure Paul Wolfert is a great "dunker" also.

Also, I'm sure Garrett Temple will do fine at LSU. He will stay his 5 years here. He will be a great student-athlete. He will bleed purple and gold just like his father and brother did. But the bottom line here is he will not get much playing time. In my opinion he just isn't a Division I player.

And yes I have seen him play. I saw University High in the Top 28 when Davis and Temple were seniors. I also saw when McCall beat Unversity High when Davis and Temple were juniors.

Anyway, I hope Garrett proves me wrong.

    What?

Interstates run through Covington, LA - what are you saying?

Saying it's a "wasted" scholarship is rediculous. Brady actually advised Josh not to attend LSU and play in his father's shadow. Josh wanted to be a Tiger and the opportunity presented itself to offer him a scholarship position. Had a scholarship never been available, Josh Maravich would have walked on for all 5 years and made the same contribution in practice and in the classroom.

Some things in life are not really up for discussion. If you want to imagine that extending a scholarship to Pete Maravich's son after a very good high school career is a debatable topic, go right ahead. I would suggest you save yourself the time and pull your head from your ass...

There is a world outside the city limits of Convington/Mandeville that's what I mean. B/c he did well at St. Paul's does not mean he should get offers from Duke and North Carolina. B/c Pistol Pete is the greatest player in the history of the program does not mean the son will do the same. Futhermore, if you think Josh Maravich is a major D-1 player then you need to say hello to my little friend, reality.

So you think LSU Basketball should only give scholarships to major D-1 future stars? We are not Duke, UNC, or Kansas - we will always need to recruit and sign kids who are willing to work their butts off, excel in school, stay out of trouble, and be talented enough to play competitively in practice all year long.

Calling the kids who do all of that for this program a "waste" of a scholarship is madness.

Josh Maravich did all of the above while accepting his role as a scout team player and being content with the fact that he will play about 5 MINUTES A YEAR. Find me a kid who is content with playing 5 MINUTES A YEAR and who stays out of trouble, stays in shape, excels in school, stays motivated, accepts his role, and works his tail off in practice and I will kiss your ass.

There is a need to have a few players like Josh and others. It's not Josh Maravich's fault that kids are leaving the program like Ole Miss fans in the 3rd quarter of a football game. If this team was 12 deep you would think it's great that Josh is on the team...

Like him or hate him, we can't win with a bench of 1 player every year...

We have to be deep to win in our league.

It isn't just a coincidence that so many people have quit in the past years.

Dutchtown Tiger, who would you rather give Josh's scholarship to? Some player that will end up being a bad name for our university, and will probably just transfer because he only gets 5 minutes a year, or a guy that is content with his PT and, like BB said, works his ass off. I'll take the latter on my team ANY day.

Thank You Casey! I personally don't know (or care) if this has anything to do with Brady, but we lost two quality players in a month.

    Simple as this:

If the player doesn't start as a freshman, he won't graduate here.

    That is the pattern developing
