I'll tell you what... A season like the one this past season was unheard of 6 years ago. We played well all season...I remember when Saban was here we'd have some good seasons but would lose to Florida 40-6. I don't know about you guys but when we go into a game I know there is absolutely no chance that we get blown out, I know that our team will show up. Look, LSU is a powerhouse right now. With JaMarcus returning next season we'll be right behind those Trojans at USC in the #2 spot to start the season... with probably a good amount of first place votes. What I also love about Miles is how excited he gets about winning football games. Think about it...when he was at Okie State he never had seasons like the last two hes had here and he loves it! He loves it here and we love having him here! Geaux Tigers!
That is an excellent point, one I wish I had made myself. Kudos to you for thinking of it, and you're absolutely correct. Bama's new coach had ONE year where this wasn't the case. When we lose to AU and UF, it is a complete shock to us, whereas during most previous seasons, it was expected, and a shock if it didn't happen.
I agree that Miles did not appear to have the appeal of Saban when Miles was hired. I am now delighted with Miles. He is a straight shooter who has class. How many players did he lose when he took over the job? How many recruits did he save for LSU when Saban left? He is a member of the family. Let me be one of the first to say that when the Michigan job becomes available I will be hoping that Miles stays "home" at LSU.
I think the shock of Saban going to Bama, and the way he did it, woke up Tiger nation. When we start to see the stark contrast between the two, in particular the character, it was natural for most to finally realize how good we have it, and for us to identify with Miles. With Saban's second move, and almost identical in style to the first move, LSU fans' respect for Saban went down the tubes. Miles is all genuine, and a back to back eleven win record isn't that shabby either. You can count me in as his fan and suporter. Geaux Miles, Geaux Tigers!
LMAO ... What a nut! SO, YOU'VE SIPPED THE KOOL-AID AND IT IS GOOD, HUH! MILES WITH THE BEST TALENT IN AMERICA GETS HOSED AT AUBURN & FLORIDA & THROWS AWAY ANOTHER YEAR'S SHOT AT A :crystal: SO LSU WHIPPED UP ON A PUNCHING BAG NOTRE DAME BIG FUKKING DEAL MILES STILL SUCKS AS A CHAMPIONSHIP HEAD COACH. HOW MANY SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS DOES LSU HAVE WITH MILES HOW MANY WILL HE HAVE AFTER 2007 HOW MANY AFTER 2008 HOW MANY AFTER 2009 ETC MILES IS A CHAMPIONSHIP COACH "NOT" RAMAH PREDICTION: SABAN WILL WIN AN SEC CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE MILES WHAT MORE DO WE NEED? AN SEC CHAMPIONSHIP AND WHAT URBAN MEYER HAS AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS THAT'S WHAT MORE WE NEED
I have got to do some venting here! I am really tired of all the BS about how Saban left Miami. Here is the deal and this is the best way I can explain it. Lets say you have a job that is pretty good the money is good, the working conditions are nice and you like it. But then your buddy from across town says hey there is this position comming up and I think you would be good for it and oh by the way they will pay you more and the hours are better, and will give you a company car. Well, now you are thinking about leaving your cushy job that you have had. But you sure as hell can't tell your boss that your thinking of leaving or any of your co-workers. Hell I did this only about 6months ago thats how I got away from all those AL and AU fans in Alabama. I was asked point blank by my boss if I was looking at other options. I said no, I was reading the classifieds for my brother (this is know as a bold face lie) So put my picture up next to Saban's in the LIAR LIAR poster. I have also told previous employers I would never work for them again only go right back because they were paying more. Remember the old saying MONEY TALKS and BS WALKS! Coaching is a buisness. I know a lot of us want them to be as loyal as we are but the facts are they are not. They are here to do a job. If they do it well they can stay if not will find a better one. So, who really cares how he left. I don't this is all a waste of time to keep harping on this I think. I don't fault Saban in the least. I am glad he is where he is. It will only make the SEC more interesting in about 3-5 years. We still have the most talent in the SEC. TEBOW can only run left. Remeber Les is a better recruiter, he went and personal spoke with Ryan Periloux which made the difference for him. So, who thinks Russell will stay and persue a NC and a heisman or will he go pro?
If we were talking an everyday job like pretty much everyone here has, yes. Head coach of football teams are nothing like your's or my job. I don't need to get into the details of why that is. This isn't so much about Saban, it's about appreciating our coach and what he's done. He's a great coach and will likely prove that next year and beyond. This program has proven it can not just hang with the elite, we can win against our "elite" peers. Not only that, I think we stand a good chance of beating them more often than not. I'm talking OSU, USC, Michigan, etc... Our state produces a very special breed of players, as long as we play with our boys, we will have success beyond anything we've seen previously. Miles can put together the right roster and he can win, that's what we know. He's done nothing to prove otherwise. I've seen us get grief for having the "most talent" but underachieving. Let's be honest though, it takes talent, coaching, and a good amount of the intangibles to go undefeated or win a title otherwise. We have the talent and we have the coaching. We'll win a title. In today's CFB there is enough parity to where scheduling and the "balls bouncing the right way" can make or break your season regardless of who's on your sideline. Let's not forget how we got into the NC game in '03, it was 11th hour decimal points, partly decided by games we weren't even playing in, in a system that is part popularity and part just plain unknown madness. Miles can get us there just as Saban did. It wasn't like Saban put the team on his back and we went undefeated. There were close calls, close games, and a home loss. We get the right calls and some good bounces this year and we'd be in glendale. Saban may have ditched too early and made a very costly mistake. Don't underestimate how fast the Tide fans can turn on a coach, especially one being paid more than twice what other coaches get who consistently challenge for the NC. We're gonna beat them more often than not and this whole thing in Bama is going to be a luke warm success. Anyone wanna post the "shake hands with the Bear" skeleton pic?
