It ain't obvious to me. Sure he appreaciates LSU fans, including the students. It says nothing about whether he overlooks classless, vulgar and juvenile behavior by the students.
Also, the f bombs let Tebow know that he got to us. I would ask all of the students not to curse as a group. It will force the administration to take action. Let's be loud and intimidating, not total a**holes. I have been going to TS since 1970 and would hate to see another tradition go the tubes. Does anyone remember they use to play the song after TDs and the whole stadium would go A Yah ha ha ha. Then we, I was a student at the time started adding the a**holes, A**holes. It was played on national TV against Bama. They stopped playing it. Then they moved the student section to endzone. Let's not make it worse. We have all done stuff we should not do. This is not a judgement. I just hate to see us lose our traditional songs because we show our butts on national TV.
very good post at least come up with a clever way to deface the opposing team... you suck and **** you are just simple minded and show a lack of creativity and originality, not to mention make us all look classless.
Doubtful. First off, I 100% doubt the guy is on the sidelines saying "Yes! The student section is saying F-you Tebow! Genius! Boy I cant wait to go and do the "coach point to the crowd then clap" thing!" The guy's got a job to do, he could give a crap what anyone else but his staff and players are doing. As for thanking the students- when do coaches not do this after a big game? Saban did it a lot, Dinardo did it. Nothing new here. LSU's student section is great, so they do deserve thanks. Why do they go to the student section? Not because they're dropping F bombs in unison, but y'all are future alma matter. Not everyone in TS went to LSU or graduated there, so of course they would go to the student section. Dropping a F bomb once in awhile at a game? It happens. That's fine- I don’t think that people should be cuffed and hauled out for that. Now, when it's in unison, and clearly audible it's wrong. It's wrong and just plain childish. I too was once a student. I thought all that stuff was cool when I was 18/19/20. Here is the thing- you grow up. You realize, like Carface already said, that you represent LSU any time you attend a game, travel, wear purple and gold. It's embarrassing to behave like a jerk. I cant think of any way to put it simpler. You make LSU look bad. This may not mean too much to you now, but hopefully one day it will. Now to props for the SS- y'all were electric on Saturday night. THAT is what counts. Not that you're "mean and crude"- anyone can do that. It's that the SS is full of die hard fans who show up, stand all 4 quarters, and scream their hearts out. The students are the most creative bunch in TS and, IMO, all college football. They make the best signs, they come up with the best costume ideas (the LSU spider man guy alone wins hands down). That is what makes the SS the best- the never failing enthusiasm and the 100% all out scream fest
I'm not defending the students, but people are making this out to be worse than it really is. It is impossible to regulate the students in ANY student section in any stadium in the country. It is not exclusive just to LSU, if other universities found a solution for it, I'm sure we would be using it too. Another thing, it is a heated, intense SEC battle. Tebow was taunting the student section so he had it coming. I was watching it from TV and I was saying similar things to him as well the whole game. Can you fault the students for cursing at him when more than likely you were as well? Think about this: Does it make it any better at a tailgate party with kids around if you curse at the TV or with your friends? What's the difference? Only that the students are all in one place when they yell it. There's kids around in both places and they hear it either way. Sure it doesn't make us look as good as a university but all the non-LSU fans i talked to about it aren't making it a big deal; they just laugh it off. It's a give-and-take thing, the best student sections are more than often the most crude as well. That only means that they get into the game more than others and are more passionate about it.
I think that some people are missing the point. That is the students should police themselves. They should respect their university enough not to give it a bad image. But this type of behavior carries over from just childish chants to how they act on an individual basis. You can't control how Tebow acted but you can control how you behave. How about just Booing him. You don't have to let others control how you behave. Tebow got his in the end after all. And obscene chants don't benefit our defense like just good ol fashioned noise. :thumb:
This is where I'm confused. Other than LSU fans, nobody else even cares about this. At least I haven't found any articles from the outside world talking about it. And if it weren't for CBS's delay guy obviously falling asleep it wouldn't have even made it on TV.
