Les Miles' Appreciation of the Student Section

No one is letting others control how the students behave, thats just how they all felt. I'm guessing that 90% of Tiger Nation was cursing him out, the students just vocalized it together.

 

Someone can taunt you or say negative things about you. You have to decide how you respond to this. If you respond by showing your rear end, that is up to you. Tebow didn't grab anyone in the student sections vocal chords and force them to start with the f bomb chants. One thing that we are blessed with is free will and self control. If I can taunt you and get you to react that way then I own you because my actions are making you behave in a manner that you would not normally behave. Tebow knew that he could get to the SS . How the SS responded is up to them. If you are in a group of people that are behaving like children it is up to you to control how you act. I personally don't let other people control how I act. Remember what comes out of your mouth is what makes you unclean not what you put in it. What you say reflects what is in your heart.

 

Also the behavior of some individuals is affecting traditions that were established prior to their arrival. People who never earn anything are usually the ones that don't respect it and destroy it.:thumb:

 

This is such a hypocritical statement... I just assume you don't know why he taunted us.

Hundreds of people CALLED his cell phone! That is awful! Don't get me wrong, the guy is a cocky SOB and he pisses me off, but what people did to him is just horrible. If fans are going to taunt him, keep it in the stadium. Don't interfere with his life....

Plus, not a single person would have said the stuff they left on voice mails to his face.

I said it before and I will say it again:

2 wrongs do not make a right and never will, but this is a COLLEGE problem, not an LSU problem, but there is NOTHING you can do about it.

Maybe we should just stop the band? b/c they provoke us with the 1st-down chant.

Obviously that is ridiculous, and it was intended to be, but to suggest you will muzzle people is ridiculous and something that can't be enforced, because if you think the only people who were cussing were the ones in that northern endzone and were all LSU fans, then you need to go back and hang out with Barney and baby bop.

 

I don't like the organized f*** you chants. But I have to wonder how many people outside of LSU (and bitter fans from the teams we beat) think it's a big problem.

But I still don't like the vulgar stuff from the student section. I wish they'd express themselves more creatively (like the student section of a school with a basketball team that I personally loathe). There are better ways to intimidate the opposition than yelling vulgar phrases that the opposing team hears just about ever Saturday.

 

My understanding is that the messages were some pretty nasty and possibly criminal too (I haven't heard the recordings) stuff. I listened to an interview with his dad and if what he says is correct I am just upset that anyone (LSU fan or not) would resort to that type of abuse. The phone calls are not even in the same league as the "F*** Tebow" nonsense which is crude and ignorant as well. It's a shame that this type of crap follows one of the biggest games LSU/Fla has played and it just enahnces the point even more that this juvenile crap needs to stop. I LOVE the student section being loud and intimidating but the childish crap has to stop.

I may just make the list today !! What is sports ? Now I know why the small sports page called us The Why Babies . We won the game , and Tebow at the end of the game , I am sure heard the the fans , hell he is about age of the students. He was how do I word this ? He was letting the fans know he knew they were there . It was not dialing it was as I saw it saying "You are Paper Tigers you are not making any noise ,I can't hear you !! " BTW it was not a sound at that point .He had just scored !! I thought it was one of the cool(KEWL)est things I have ever seen , He put us the fans where we wanted to be . Into the game !! I do not know about the dirty words , I know it is a football game , it is not a Sunday class ., You hear those words everyday ! Tebow is a preachers kid , it did not hurt his feelings , so whom ever started this thread it must have hurt your feelings . What do you want from fans ?? I am just asking , to just sit there like at a golf match , where you are afraid to even whisper ? I know that would have an effect on the other team to have no noise in Tiger Stadium as they march down field to a TD . Then as LSU scores a TD you hear a gentle Geaux Tigers , win tigers , then over the PA you hear "We are sorry if that hurt your feelings !" Welcome to the real world , It is football , the only thing wrong with the whole thing is , the way we reacted to Tebow , it takes a whole lot of want to to bring him down ! He played just as hard any LSU player played , this is taking away from one of the best ----games (I did not want to hurt you feelings)I have ever seen ! So much time wasted on little adjectives !! Those great little descriptive words. SO THE HELL WITH IT GEAUX TIGERS !! KICK SOME ASS !!

 

I stand firmly with Carface - an EXCELLENT rant. In fact, I think it should appear in the Reveille and the Advocate, too.

I'm sure Coach appreciated the volume of the sound from the students, but not the content.
