Why is it hypocritical? The student section was responding to his attitude on the field after the score. I'm not mad that he taunted, heck i probably would have done the same thing if i was Tebow. He was trying to get the crowd all worked up in the heat of the moment, and it worked. It is pretty common in sports. (think T.O. or anyone like that) The game got a lot more intense after that, and the fans got more into it. He was working the crowd and the crowd just followed along. That's what I love about sports that's why I don't think it's as bad as people claim it to be. You think T.O. has never heard an F.U. chant? He loves hearing that stuff and provokes the crowd into it. I do know the story behind it, and think its awful too but that doesn't mean the students arne't allowed to yell back. Just because some idiots called his phone doesn't mean he can prance into the endzone and do whatever, ya know?
Agreed. We seem to have lost our creative spark. The teabag stuff didn't impress me either. Ps...great rant Carface
you're right that the whole stadium IS loud, but the south endzone is loudest by a mile.[/quote] Is this supposed to be for real? I sit in the South and the crowd is WEAK - my seats are sweet, row 6, but the crowd around me is quiet and they get mad when I stand up, telling me to sit down - I am not saying I want to stand the whole game, but sometime on a third down - I might want to get up and yell and it makes me so mad that I can't! Only a few people around me yell when we are on defense, they all seem to be really into the pre=game, but when it comes to the game, half of them are talking about their plans for next week instead of watching the game. The visitors will start chants, embarrasing me b/c the LSU fans in my area do not respond, and I have to listen to the other team's cheers. I miss the days I was in the Student Section, keeping up the energy for the whole game, not just the big plays. North Endzone RULES!
I'm still mystified as to how Tebow didn't get slapped 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct, especially since he did it right in front of an official.
The university (read: O'Keefe) needs to come forward and make an OFFICIAL statement on what is OK and what is not.
Come back in thirty years and you'll be hollering at the newbie grads who still think they are in the student section. Not every play requires a frenetic celebration. We stand, we sit, we holler, and we talk among ourselves . . . and we are paying attention to the game, not just being raucous. Been there . . . done that. There is more to LSU football than being a sterotype superfan with a painted chest.
it is not their place to do so. I might think it's rude to burp in public, but my neighbor may not. who's to say who is right and who is wrong. I think students shouldn't be so ignorant but they don't think so. who's to say we're more right than they are? there is no law against cussing. sorry.
