Les wants to be here. That's says a lot to me. He could have used our tigers as a stepping stone for some other job. He didn't. He was offered twice by big blue and turned them down. By his own admission, he was offered other jobs as well. He turned them down too. When people call his radio show and bitch slap him from the cover of a long distance call, I get pissed. He's a good man. He's good for LSU. He's a damn strong coach. He wants to be HERE! Cut the dude some slack. We could have much worse. Look at ole miss.

Les Miles' growth as a coach

I remember back when Pepsodent Paul Dietzel bailed out on LSU for Army after five years and a national title. Suitcase Saban did the same thing. Les Miles won my loyalty through thick and thin when in 2007 at the SEC Championship game against Tennessee he refused the Michigan job for the first of their two overtures and went on to win the SEC championship and BCS national championship that year. I wouldn't trade him for Saban even if it were possible. He's a likeable, loyal, elite level coach . His players love him and he likes it here. He's LSU's first national championship coach who didn't leave for greener pastures and used LSU as a stepping stone when given the opportunities.

Thanks, Les. You're a damn fine football coach.

I talked to a Michigan man at my hotel yesterday and he said they would kill to have Les as their coach. I said "Thanks for beating Notre Dame".

Lets see if this Miles Love fest continues when LSU loses its first game (Its not a question of if but when) because we are in the SEC and our opponents ALSO has top 5 talent, world class facilities and great coaches.

So I have always been a fan of Miles and realize he has forgotten more about football than ANYONE of us on this board will ever know. I also really like Mile because for this first time in a VERY long time we have a coach who LOVES LSU. Wants to be a part of this community and most importantly has the perfect demeanor and personality to fit our culture. Remember Saban lecturing us all the time. I cannot think of a better coach who would come here than Miles. He can go 7-6 and I would still think he is the right man for the job.

But this love in will end quickly knowing some in our fan base as soon as we lose a close one.

I hope it doesn't but being on this board for as long as I have the "Fire Les Miles" threads will quickly appear.
Then the idiotic posts of "Go hire Saban Back and have Bill Bellichek (Sp?) be our Defensive coordinator, oh and lets have Sean Peyton coach special teams" type posts.

Maybe so, but lets enjoy the positive posts while they last. I don't think CLM is going to suddenly lose a ton of games, so hopefully none of those threads/websites appear anytime soon. He's a saavy, ball control, win the game in the end kind of coach, and usually those guys maintain success fairly well. Obviously, as a person, he is the kind of coach we could all have only dreamed of for LSU. He clearly treats his players, coaches, and other personnel with respect, class and dignity. I sure am proud of him on and off the field. He has really grown to be "LSUs coach" in addition to a "Michigan man".

Here's to you Les! Keep up the fine representation and pride in our program, maintain the talent level and quality coaching, and the "wins" are sure to follow, on and off the field.

I like the fact that T.C. is still on the sidelines with us. Les made a promise to this kid and has followed through with it. All T.C. wanted was to be a coach and I think he is learning from the best. :thumb:

Les miles is redefining what lsu football means. He has given lsu football an identity.
It's hard nose in your face defense with a powerful running attack. You can bet that young runningbacks in highschool would love to come to lsu because they know they will get to shine in this system.
Les has shown lots of patience with us fans. I don't know how he keeps his cool. Just listen to the azzholes that will call tonight on his radio show and ask disrespectful questions and make stupid remarks.
I know some will say it comes with the money. Don't you think that les can get top money just about anywhere in the country? How much would a team like Ohio state pay les to come up there and restore that program for example.
We are in the best days of lsu football. Nick saban resurrected the program, les miles has made it elite.

His SEC experience has certainly growed as well as his overall coaching. Being 7 years in, he knows a great deal more than last year, and the year before. Having Coach Chavis longer has increased their communcation/ teamwork. Many factors in, but I believe he has grown tremendously.
