    This was a very fair post. Nice job.

    You forgot to mention that a team shouldn't be without any timeouts with 12 mintues to go in the game. Most of the timeouts lost due to disorganization on that sideline. LSU led the nation in timeouts called before the 5 minute mark of each half. They must correct that as well.

    That being said, LSU did finish where people thought we would. And Les Miles should definitely be commended for that.

    That is what I meant by gameday management. No excuse for burning all those timeouts.

    Not sure if it's because we are getting plays called in late or what, but you need to save those TOs for late in the game. Especially with the new clock rules.

    No doubt Miles is still learning the SEC, no doubt there is room for improvement in several areas. I feel we should have won at both AU and Florida. But It's hard to argue that he hasn't done a good job with such a tough schedule and finishing the regular season top 10. If Miles continues to work on the areas that he needs to improve he could have a very very bright future at LSU and the present ain't bad either. JMO

    Nice analysis cadillacattack, particularly the part about the lingering after effects of the AU - LSU game. I think it took a little more wind out of your sails than ours.

    I think this is the one thing that the casual fans don't get. It's not so easy for a coach to just walk into the SEC and do great. I know I'm biased towards the SEC, but there is a huge learning curve for coaches coming into the SEC because it's like no other conference. UGA fans questioned Richt his first couple of years. And we all know Auburn tried to run Tubby out of town the year before he went undefeated. Meyer took some heat last year from Florida fans.

    Coaches like Saban are the exception. It takes a few years for most new coaches. I understand why some are concerned about Miles, but I don't understand how anyone can be really unhappy with his first two years.

    There are a lot of good fair minded posts in here now. CADILLACATTACK, thanks for a very good one.

    Let's not worry about 2009 and 2010, lets take it as it comes. Or you'll forget to ENJOY this year, a lot of excitement, and a top 10 finish.

    The Auburn game was a great one regardless of the score. I really enjoyed the game. Great intensity on both sides, and exciting to the last throw (too bad we didn't get in).

    Live in the present, its good.

    The comparison to Coker is absurd. Coker took over a talented team and continued winning. But those wins came when Miami was in a terrible conference and was guaranteed a BCS appearance every year. Miles is a success in the most rugged football conference around. If Coker would have had to coach his way through this years versions of Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, and Arkansas back in 2001-02, he would have been exposed. Miami was a great team with little competition. Just hold off VATech and FSU and you're in the title game. It's not that easy for the Canes anymore.

    It took Nick a few years, too.

    2000 = 4 losses
    2001 = 3 losses
    2002 = 5 losses
    2003 = 1 loss
    2004 = 3 losses

    versus Miles
    2005 = 2 losses
    2006 = 2 losses

    Those numbers do make Miles look great.

    But you must put it in context. Saban took over Dinardo's talent. Miles took over Saban's talent.

    Apples and Oranges, my friend.

    Nonetheless, to his credit Miles has kept up the roll we are on.

    Guy wins 10 games. The SEC is by far the toughest damn conference in the nation. Lost NO home games. Hasn't been our head coach very long.
    You should be ashamed of yourself. Hope your boss isn't as hard on you. Nothing personal towards you, but I hope people and opinions such as yours become the exception and not the rule. LSU went through alot of losing seasons and all those coaches became suspect.
    I fully support an exchange of ideas in forums such as this one. We won last nite on a strong teams own field. Now,,,,,,,this morning you start this thread. Honestly, I'd be ashamed of myself if I wrote that crap.
    Thank god you're not a Ole Miss fan. But then again, you'd have a real reason to cry if you were.
    Take stock man, we have a great team, maybe not a national championship team, but we'd beat a national championship team 1 out of 3 games anytime.

    I don't understand you.
    -A real LSU fan.
