It pains me to type this, but I watched the game again and we just flat out got out played and were out coached. Give the props to Bama, they beat us in all phases of the game and deserved the win. Were we properly prepared prior to the game and properly coached during the game? That's open for debate. What isn't is the fact we got beat in the BCSNC game. I'm over it.
I'm even more glad that Hebert asked the question the other night, because apparently there won't be any other or many more opportunities. At least for awhile. I don't really see that as a debatable point. Even Les conceded today that LSU obviously was not prepared. I don't expect many people to admit to their failures in this day and age, however. He did say on Monday night that he didn't see this coming and took the blame for it.
It seems like Nick is getting quite a few from our state. I think we will be fine but I hope a trend isn't starting. I agree with your assessment about the inappropriateness of this press conference however I don't think Miles was just out coached. He flat out refused to make any changes on the field and some contributors this season, some significant and others didn't play. I have never seen a coach do what Les Miles did in this game, he did nothing. This could have an everlasting effect, I see it possibly as more than one game. You can bet next time Nick Saban is recruiting in the state of Louisiana he will point to this game and say you had a QB that didn't see the field that was 9-0 as a starter and didn't play a role down the stretch. Les Miles has given coaches ammunition to use against him. You are correct, I am hoping for the best and hoping that I may be wrong. I will always root and love LSU and Coach Miles and am looking forward to next year but all coaches have to be held accountable for their actions or inactions. I suspect people will be asking the same questions every time they can but guess what, this is strictly on Les Miles. If he would have tried something different kinda like we have seen Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban do then no one would be talking about this. This reminds me a lot of Gerry Dinardo and Lou Teppor, for one game only! What I mean by that is Les Miles stuck with JJ for bad or worse the last 3 games and it cost us big time in the last game. I bet that game Saturday was the worst game ever for any team playing to win a college football championship, 5 first downs? Are you serious? IMHO like others have said the Defense and special teams carried this team especially once we got the new and improved JJ. Having said this I remember the early 90's, I am very happy and content. It is the coaches neck on the line they can do what they want. I am just making a case, really for others. Geaux Tigers, I am so happy football season is over but in a few months I'll be so ready to root for the Tigers!
I feel badly for all of our WRs. Its been a piss poor 4 years of crappy opportunties for them. Les needs to show he remembers how to have a passing offense. If RR leaves it may be a vote of no confidence. Les has a bad year of offense next year and he might be right back in the hot seat. Maybe I'm wrong that we had a wizard of Oz offense this year, propped up by the defense and special teams, but thats how I feel now.
Good points. But LSU could have gone down as one of the best CF teams ever. They did everything right then absolutely F'd their final exam. I still dont know what the hell happened, but it shouldnt be swept under the rug.
Maybe, maybe not. Its 1-1 and I give LSU at least as much credit for serving up a loss to themselves as I do Bama for serving it to them. Bama for sure was better on Monday. But was that the best LSU had? Really? I don't know. I'm mystified.
It was no where near their best. I'm convince that, if we had the opportunity to get a rematch like Bama did, we may not win the game, but we would not see nearly the pathetic performance that we did Monday night. It would be a much better and closer game.
