I disagree with that. In this modern day world, when Les was trying to call Michigan, do you really think that the Michigan AD was out 'sailing' and that nobody could contact the AD by phone, email, fax, blackberry, etc.. If the AD wanted Les, he would have returned Les or his agent and guaranteed him the job. With such an important decision, do you really think the AD went AWOL like that?

A lot of Michigan alums may have wanted Les, but there was a influential minority spearheaded by Carr that didn't want Les.

We both agree that the majority of the Michigan fan base wanted Les. As for the influential minority who didn't want Les, I'm not sure how much influence they ended up having on Michigan's AD (whose job is to appease the majority). I think the Michigan AD wanted Les and would have given him the job, but that Les didn't want to go to a program where there was an influential minority that opposed him. Here at LSU, Miles has the full support of every one of influence. The only people who oppose Les in Tiger Nation are Tiger fans who have mastered John Madden's football on PlayStation and think they know something about being the head football coach at multi-million dollar football program.

Well, let's not forget that Miles has had his share of critics at LSU, especially after that loss to Arkansas.

I still don't see how we can say the Michigan AD really wanted Les when he made a half-hearted attempt at Miles- no scheduled meeting or phone call, didn't return Miles phone call, etc.. If Martin, the Michigan AD, really wanted Miles, I don't understand why he wouldn't have returned Miles' phone call?

Have you read Martin's comments about what happened? He's all like, well, I didn't know know how to use my blackberry... And, well, I had to wait till Sunday to respond to the calls from Miles' agent cause I didn't read the papers and know that I could contact Miles' agent earlier when Miles' agent was calling me...

I do agree that Miles had his concerns in so far that he didn't know if the Michigan job was his. And, once the Michigan AD refused to return his calls, I think Miles saw the writing on the wall and realized, or thought, that he had no shot at Michigan.
