'I love this place': Les Miles declines to defend self, says he, Joe Alleva spoke Sunday 'about a matter', http://theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/14091508-128/i-love-the-place-lsu
Miles has handled everything about this situation with class as most would expect he would. He knows it's over, but he's not going do things any different than he has since he's been here. I think almost everyone respects him as a person and wishes him well. If he would have just let someone build a damn offense for him!
Wow. Something that I heard, but didn't get my head wrapped around was LSU has not lost 3 in a row by double didgets in over 49 years. Half a century...for that. Some teams have a legacy at that type of performance, but here, it's once in a lifetime. And folks wonder why the LSU fan base has such a high standard. Sportsmans Paradise. That shit is for real.
I figure there will be a lot of that between now and next week. I know I'm sad to see him go out like this, but that doesn't stop me from seeing the time has come.
Another interesting stat is LSU went undefeated in conference in 2011 (8-0). The last time that happened was in 1970. (5-0) - 41 years.
Makes you wonder, how many coaches that have won a national championship would get asked to walk in this same exact scenario, at other schools? You could say Mack Brown but they gave him more time, coincidentally that was probably a stupid thing to do. So by that standpoint LSU is pulling the trigger before it gets to that point. Would for example, Urban Meyer's job be in jeopardy at OSU if he posted the same record, same scenario, couldn't beat let's say, Michigan, 5 times in a row he loses to them. And the offense can't going, and he is also losing to Michigan State, and Wisconsin too. This happens over 4 years same scneario different schools giving him fits. Would he be asked to walk? Nick Saban, same deal different schools, 5 in a row to Auburn. Bob Stoops, same deal, 5 in a row to Texas, different teams...what if??? Jimbo at FSU, same deal, walk or no? You could even ask this question of coached who haven't won. Let's play. Gary Patterson, same deal yes or no? Hugh Freeze, same deal?
