I’m sure many of my friends will not like this post but it’s too important to speak out.
Trump’s performance at the G7 has been devastating to American interests. His threat to close our borders to our allies imports is not only destructive but unconstitutional...you see only Congress has the power to impose tariffs (Article 1of the Constitution). He is in the process of alienating us from the rest of the first world.
Of course he plans to make up for it by befriending Russia and N Korea. Oh yes that’ll work.
He seems more the Kremlin’s mouthpiece than the president of the United States.
Trump at G-7 floats end to all tariffs, threatens major penalties for countries that don’t agree
    The Washington Post

“We’re like the piggy bank that everybody is robbing,” Trump said. “And that ends.” Read the full story

Not really. Did you read what he said? Did you see the photo? He’s alienated his allies yet calls for Russia’s readmission to G7 Russia whose total economic output is less than California. Russia the country that was kicked out of the G7 for occupying Crimea and is invading Ukraine? Russia who whether you like it or not is trying to weaken us.
Oh yes don’t you admire Trump’s great prep for a critical meeting....I’ll just go by fell.

Come on quit defending the indefensible.

There's more than one way to impose tariffs without congress.

Calling it a national security issue against our closest allies and biggest trading partner. Is that really what you want? BTW we have a trade surplus with Canada and over 70% of our trading partners.

Oh yes only the newly elected PM of Italy supported Trump’s idea of admitting Russia. Italy? There’s a powerful endorsement.

Trump objected to putting the phrase “rules based international order” in the communique. The very basis of our success has been using the rules we created to build prosperity. It’s also a window on Trumps distain of the rule of law.
I know many hoped he would shake things up but he’s not shaking things up at all. He’s a bull in a china shop breaking things not because he understands what he’s doing but from a blind instinctive rage.
