Agree. The Iran deal was a surrender by Obama. I have few issues with pulling out of it even if we’re alone.
And why/how are we better off pulling out of the deal? There is no upside, other than the Dotard fulfilling yet another campaign promise. I don’t see why, otherwise, we should have pushed for additions/mods, while keeping it in place. And please don’t say we tried. Trump poisoned the well from day one and undercut the chances for a much needed mod. The issue which I find lacking from the debate is why this “treaty” was not treated as a treaty, going through the Senate. Obama went the expeditious route, signing on a deal that was not so great, and would not have received the advice and consent of the Senate. Hence, the Dotard can take it away with a simple stroke of his pen. Which he did. Once again, hats off to the Founding Fathers! On the grand strategic level, we are damn near forcing our long term allies toward Russia and China. Contrary to what the embittered uneducated rabble seem to believe, America, going it alone, will be an awfully long row to hoe.
I understand your point @HalloweenRun but Iran is running rampant in Syria and parts of Iraq. There was no interest or momentum to modifying the agreement (you’re right it’s no treaty and damn Obama forwhat he did). You note the negative potential but on the positive side it puts Iran on notice and pressure. I doubt Germany, France or Britain will get too close to Putin. Like with North Korea Trump and Bolton’s saber rattling could be productive. That’s why I say I have little issue with the action.
