quoted by TE: Bitch-slapping your girlfriend in a dorm and getting arrested for it, yet never having to sit out a single game is just typical of the Brady Era. We've had outright violence displayed towards undeserving significant others, and undeserving teammates. We've had academic issues, we've had large scale player attrition, and we've had outright mistakes in recruiting bad characters. ....................................................................................................... I would have to totally agree with you on this one. I don't live in Louisiana anymore and have only learned "insider" things from all of my tiger friends here. I don't agree with having this kind of players but: John Brady didn't and doesn't have the tools that Nick was fortunate to have when he came to LSU. NO ONE wanted to come to LSU and coach basketball. Would you tell me why???? Maybe it was because of the investigation and penalties. I don't know. LSU isn't really known for a basketball school, maybe all of these reasons is the reason why we couldn't get a "known" basketball coach. I think thats also the reason we couldn't get 1st class players. Look at Hullmans, Dinardo recruits compared to Saban.......... Saban has the clout with his background to bring in the better recruits. Keep in mind LSU is known for a football school. I can't fault John Brady for trying to build a program out of ashes, I also don't fault him for some of the recruits he's recruited. He's had to take chances, maybe with some questionable characters to get the program back on its feet. WHY? Because the best are going to Duke, NC, Kentucky and the rest of the top basketball programs in the country. I do fault John Brady if he isn't disciplining his players like he should, for instance what TE said about the one player not suspended after getting arrested. I don't think its wise to compare Nick and John. John? somebody from Samford Nick? Probably the best football coach in the country.(college or pro) His background speaks for itself.
I agree with the point that morals sometimes have to be compromised and borderline characters have to be brought in to help bring the program to a baseline level. That's something that you never really take into account, but that is one viable excuse. I'll also agree with the "less with more" asessment, in that Brady doesn't have the same facilities as other fellow head coaches in the SEC, and therefore is at a recruiting disadvantage, not to mention the sanctions... But, my issues still stand, though I admit those are valid points...
I think we would agree on more than we previously thought then I know where your coming from and if LSU basketball can get back to where it once was, if not better, we should be able to get better recruits,(character wise). We'll all be a lot happier. Let's just hope LSU basketball program has some positive things happen over the next few years vs the last few years.
LOL, you'd put TE's brain in a hummingbird ... and damned thing would fly backwards ... but he can think what he wants and bash Brady all he wants ... even when LSU wins 20+ games this year before SEC Championship and makes the Top 25 again. When Skip has a NC or two in FB and Baseball is humming along & he decides to put even more $$$ and attention in roundball ... we'll reap the rewards even with Brady at the helm ... LSU could even build a "Bitch Slap" Counseling Center for victims of the Bitch Slap. IMO, seriously, Brady has done a decent job getting LSU back ... we'll make the TOP 25 before the Sugar Bowl ... Success breeds success and recruiting has just been great ... next the dividends will appear on the court ... it's really simple ... it ain't BROKE ... don't fix it .... Kudos to Brady for keeping a lid on the ZOO, despite what the quasi-literate Liberals in here think.
